What Would You Do?
« on: February 21, 2011, 07:42:11 pm »
i cleaned the windows for someone every 2 weeks and haven't been paid from before xmas!
She told me she worked away etc and will pay me no probs, couple of times she said she gave her daughter the money to put under a recycling tub!
Nothing there.
She keeps texting me saying shes going to drop it off at my house but still nothing, every week this goes on then excuse that shes been away or sick etc!
She owes me £44,do i get a solicitor?how much would it cost?do i write a letter saying payment must be recieved in 7 days?
what should i do?
cheers

Try to catch her when she is in and explain that you wont be cleaning her windows anymore and explain why. Its only £44 so put it down to experience and forget the cash.
Personally I dont go back to clean windows if they did not pay for the last clean.
Good luck

Proper annoys me when people behave like that, no reason for it at all apart from they think they can rip someone off and get away with it.

I guess she's never thought of sending you a cheque to cover it......  No excuses really.  We can accept payment on line for those with a computer and half a brain, saves running about.

I'd send her a snotty letter giving her 28 day's to settle the outstanding debt before you hand over the collection to an agent and advise her that there will be a collection fee of £120 charged for late payments as per your company policy which she verbally agreed to  ;D

Probably wont work if she's a crafty cow but if she's just a lazy mare it might give her the kick she needs.  Plus your not going back there so it's only the cost of a stamp.

If it don't work at least you tried mate, Karma might bite her at some point.

you could use this

Dear Mrs xxxx
Despite numerous attempts at recovery your debt for our services remains outstanding,
This will be my final request at recovery personally.

If this debt is not cleared within 7 days I am left with no choice but to either refer it to her majesty’s court service, or pass the debt onto a recovery agency, the £75 cost incurred by passing it on will be charged to your account.
Please note: Interest will be charged from the date the debt became due as set out in the Late Payment of Commercial Debt Act 1998.
Current outstanding debt £36.

If you wish to discuss this matter personally please do not hesitate to contact me, Ignoring a debt does not make it go away.

Yours sincerely.

If you are not strong no matter just, be persistent. I don't think I am intimidating at all.

I had one like that, they watched me write down the reg number of their car, And the women came out and paid up.
I never uttered a word either, they must have received some kind of threat, but I didn't make one.
