Jeff just the man , im looking to power my vac , 1500 watt motor , but i think it needs a surge peak of 2900 to actually get it running , found one today that gives 1500w constant and surge of 3500w.
Not wanting to blow my money just yet , i rang the company tech team , he was dubious about saying yes it would work .
Where do i go from here ?

When in Doubt - don't. You could use a 3 KVA petrol generator. I'd hate to think how much power that Inverter will consume from the leisure battery. What is it's power consumption by the way?

Got a 600w inverter in the van, runs booster pump (24v) i can charge laptop etc off it. Had t a couple of years now, still going strong. Can leave it running booster pump for 10+ hours off a 110ah batt.

I found a 1500 w constant with 3500 w surge for just over £150 local company , my plan was to run from van battery with engine running , take spare key to lock doors if out of sight

a 2500 watt inverter draws 150amp. Needs 2 power supply cables and needs to separate batteries. This is out of our league.

Yes can be done I have been running mine for the last two years.
I start my engine at 8am in the morning and my invertor works till 6pm each evening.

This is my set up.
Direct from the van battery leading onto a BIG leisure battery and a BIG lorry battery, which runs my I think 2500kw invertor which runs my 1.5kw pump which takes my water upto 60psi which then goes through 2 banks of 200gpd filters into the clean water tank.
You do need to keep the engine running all the time though and boy does it take it out on the batteries but 2 years and still works to a T. ;D
