tank hose to pump???????
« on: February 15, 2011, 07:53:19 am »
the other day i noticed someone posted that one of the large companies when installing their system have the hose dropped in through top of tank and weighed down at bottom. This means that when weather turns you pull hose out and run pump for few seconds to empty pump of water to eliminate it freezing.

is this method any good?

also does it cause any problems pulling water from tank when pumping ?

thru the cap? or take the cap off and thru the hole?

all you have to do is shut the valve off run the pump for a few seconds to drain the system no need to disconnect piping etc

My ibc tap blew today,

so i stuck the pipe from the pump into the tank from the top....

it took me 15 mins to get the water to come out with air locks forever...

then i sorted it,...went to my next job.... and i had to do it all again...

i gave up and went to leeds for a new tap !!

so i either have my pump in the wrong place for that method... or it dont work.!

The pumps shoul be self priming to 4ft above the water level, so yes it should work fine, I put a large mechanic socket over the those to weigh it down but you could use stiff plastic pvc pipe to stop vaccum probs.
