The penalty for forgetting!
« on: February 14, 2011, 02:11:29 pm »
One of my cleaners went out this morning to a commercial job 26 miles from home, got there for 8am, opened the van and realised he'd left the machine in the workshop after taking it out on friday so it wouldn't suffer from any frostbite!!

His penalty for this 52 mile extra trip?

I've just sent him to a job on his way back, a dear old lady has "had a bit of an accident" through the night!!!

He's just been on the phone and apparently it's a minger!!!  ;D. Laugh I nearly p!ssed my sides ;D ;D

He'll not do that again ;)

I once got to a clients house to clean the carpets and forgot the carpet cleaning wand. Had a 20 mile round trip to fetch it. As I was extracting the clients carpets it then dawned on me... "Why the bloody hell didn't you get another technician to bring it to you instead of feching it yourself"

I left my wand at a custy's house once, got all the way home before I realised, that was an extra 50 miles,on a Friday evening !!
Needless to say I now have a routine that I follow, when packing up,also helps that my van is set up in such a way that i will notice anything missing

I did a flood in someones house last week end, sucked up all the water, sprayed and rinsed Microsan, all ok left a dehum on site.

Had another in the week, flood in a hotel, went to look for Microsan, pulled the van apart couldnt find it anywhere, not in Warehouse No 1 (the garage) must have left it on the floor outside the house as I loaded van, so some scum has nicked it. Rats! so had to go and buy some more from wholesalers.

Went back to initial flood, picked up the dehum today,as all is nice and dry. As I was leaving custy said  'Is this yours mate, you left it in the sink last week!'.

Why do they never ring and tell you, its here!

Anybody want a spare container of Microsan?

Some big journeys there.
If I do 25 miles on 3 jobs in one day
I consider that a lot.

I once left my wand in a blind mans bath.He started to run the bath, took his clothes off and got in.He got hell of a fright when my handle rattled his ' Orchestra Stalls'

He rang me staight away, luckily he saw the funny side of it.

In my first year I must have gone back to
10 customers houses for left jackets or jumpers.
When I take them off now I drape it over a piece
of equipment.

Always leaving rolls of sticky tabs! Given some of the distances it's not worth going back so now I use a piece of string through the roll will a clip on my belt.

Could he not have brought it to me? I'd have it 'de-knickered'. Given it strong coffee, and have it wonder my veg patch.

Why are the sticky tabs used.
They are brilliant, so simple and obvious and work a treat. The normal 'foils' we use for putting under furniture legs/feet to stop stain or rust transfer while a carpet is drying. Sticky tabs are better because they are sticky, larger and come on a roll. They tear off and stick directly to furniture. http://www.restormate.co.uk/epages/15094.sf/en_GB/?ObjectPath=/Shops/15094/Categories/Carpet_Cleaning_Accessories/Sundries 2nd item down.

Always good to have them on the vehicle too as well as foil.
