new(ish) starter/ chemicals
« on: February 01, 2011, 05:08:26 pm »
Hello!

I have been cc for 1 year now, so just starting to become established. I started small with the most basic chems and machine, i started off using CHEMSPEC. I found the first 6 months quite hard but stuck to it and gradually things are picking up.

I have now upgraded my machine and I have been doing quite alot of experimenting with chemicals to see what suits me best, I have tried CRAFTEX, PROCHEM, AND CHEMSPEC. I use a bit of all 3 but mainly PROCHEM,

here are them chems i am currently using

PRE SPRAY - prochem trafficlean (for domestic)
prochem powerburst ( for commercial & greasy carpets) i really rate this stuff!

EXTRACTION DETERGENT - prochem double clean, fibre & fabric rinse & formula 90(chemspec)

STAIN REMOVAL - prochem stain pro, neutral pro spotter, citrus gel (craftex)

BROWNING - prochem browning prescription, oxibrite, fibrebuff (only used them a few times but they seem to work well)

GUM REMOVAL - craftex gum remover, chemspec aerosol spray, mr gummy steam cleaner machine ( for commercial cleaning)

DEODORIZING - craftex cherry spray

I would appreciate any help and feedback as to what people think i would benifit from using or any "MUST HAVES" which are missing from my list!

Also i haven't done alot of upholstery cleaning yet, what chemicals would you recommend for this?

thanks, dan  :)

Use powerburst on everything, rinse with craftex premium clean on synthetics and acid rinse on wool / wool mix.
Get some ultrapac for draught marks and some Nemesis / Pureclean to use as a spotter.

I didnt go straight into it, the first 3 or 4 months i just did it on the side of my full time job until i felt it was picking up well enough for me to do it full time.

for me its always been up and down  for instance, i will get one really busy week, the next will be just about enough, then some weeks i will get hardly anything, i think thats just the way it goes! alothough i have started to pick up a few monthly contract commercial jobs, regular commercial jobs i have are

1 residental home, 2 pubs, 2 clubs, 1 school and 2 estate agents, thats the gauranteed work i have.

i am constantly trying new ways to advertise and market my buisness, i write letters to buisnesses, advertise in alot of local magazines, leaflets, internet advertising.

i would say 70% of my work comes from customer refferals and word of mouth, a little trick i use that always goes down well is i do a little extra for free while im there, ie a rug or hallway etc .

hope this helps, Dan

The estate agents were word of mouth, all the others were from letters i had sent

For most jobs i have been mixing 3 scoops per 5ltr

For bad jobs with lots of grease i use 5 scoops

Wouldnt recommend to another cleaner to use ultrapac on every job, so i said powerburst as he is already familiar with the product,
Yea i do use ultrapac 90% of the time
