Double sided leaflet - two trades
« on: January 24, 2011, 11:06:33 am »
Had an idea and thought i would throw it in for discussion. It came from the what do your friends do thread, as it seems many of us know other trades

My leaflets are single sided. I get all i want on one side, but the other side is empty.

My brother in law has just started out his own plastering business and is thinking of getting leaflets printed up.

My thought is to have his one side and mine the other on the same leaflet. Effectivley reducing costs to us both.

The leaflet would need to have a PTO or similar on it so the person looking would read the other side, but what do you reckon to the idea ? We both work the same areas, and would mean technically i would have help delivering my leaflets as he would his

Discuss

SOUNDS LIKE A GOOD IDEA ON THE FACE OFF IT . I THINK YOU WOULD HAVE TO MAKE SURE IT DOES LOOK PROFFESSIONAL . WEVE HAD SIMULAR COME THROUGH OUR DOOR AND WHEN LOOKED AT IT AND SEEN TWO DIFFERENT MOBILES ON EACH SIDE IT CAN LOOK LIKE A GYPSY LEAFLET IN WHICH CASE IT GOES STRAIGHT IN THE BIN . ALSO ITS FINE HAVING SAY WINDOW CLEANING ON 1-SIDE AND GUTTERS ON THE OTHER AS ITS THE SAME TYPE OF BUSINESS . BUT CLEANING AND PLASTERING IS A LITTLE BIT DIFFERENT ........I WOULD SAY ITS STILL WORTH A TRY THOUGH.....GOOD LUCK

Sounds OK but there may be some issues. It's your brother-in-law so you probably trust him and his workmanship so that's fine.

For others considering it, it would need to be with a trusted other party as you are effectively associating your business with theirs and vice versa. No use you losing customers over their shoddy workmanship.

Another issue is you say you'd have help delivering, as would he, but remember that you visit 20+ houses in a day in many different streets giving you far more opportunity to deliver leaflets than a plasterer who can be on the same job for days.

Gold Star - Landlines on both, not just mobiles as i believe that looks more professional

Form B - Yes i've see what he has done to his own house, so have every confidence in him. Also im his window cleaner ;)

As for delivering leaflets, its going to be a case of we both go out to an estate and deliver them. That way its fair to both of us.

p.s. Form B - cheers for the email mate... some cracking info in there :)
