Newsletters ?

Just wondered if anyone puts out newsletters to their customers ?

Do you print & deliver as your going round or get emails ?

Also has anyone got a copy i can take a look at and get some inspiration from ?

Hi BFG

There is benefits with newsletters, with regards to promo's, offers, news, services, community news even.

Its just another marketing tool and with everything going Internet based, just like setting yourself a page on Facebook, I suppose we just have exploit every avenue of opportunity.

Milkman, yes, cool loads of promo ideas there (if your independent, for example - we are now offering veg delivery (for older folk)

If he were independent sure.

The same couldnt be applied to Postmen or Bin men, but any independent business it can.

While it's true that the rules of marketing and advertising do still apply, there are also unique aspects.The main one being that wcing is loyalty based.Once you have a customer it's a good thing to hang on to them.WCING is a very small part of the customers overall world and whilst upselling is good, too much contact can lead them to dwelling on you too much.

The ones that phone you up a lot to say you are early,late,did a good job,etc, are also the ones most likely to cancel.A customer is a sleeping dog, let it lie.

I see that a few disagree.But they are mixing up issues.

One wants to get across that he will work in light rain, and trad downstairs if decembers snow reappears

Froggy wants to launch a cluster of linked products approach( a package deal).

Another wants to alert custies to his other services.


A short note would achieve this without alienating anyone.(very easy to do).But there are much better options.IMO

I agree with slumpy there is easier ways, a simple we also do on the back of your slips does for me. and it is on my van that often gets enquirys for the extra services,

We do not have a newsletter as such, but we do regularly contact our customers via a letter.

You are at your customers house on a regular basis, if you have something to sell/communicate to them it seems a bit silly not to do it then.
