I saw mondeo man today :)
« on: December 22, 2010, 05:30:31 pm »
It was a real double take thing. It made me  :D

There it was large as life, two light weight ladders with scrims tied on and an old brown bucket shoved in between the rungs and lurking beneath was a magnificant 95 blue mondeo (with dings)...outside the bookies.

What a great job.

Anybody with a bit of nous, balls and drive can be in business for less than £500.

Happy Christmas Mondeo man, you deserve one, if only for trying.

Keep it up and soon you will be able to whine and bitch about dodgy passat geezer as you breeze past in a shiny new van with all mod cons... :D

Merry Christmas and a Prosperous new year windies. Though maybe not too prosperous round my way If you don't mind... ;)

if it is dirty it is fair game

That Mondeo man gets about a bit saw him in Manchester last week DIY ladders and metal pale bucket on rack cruising around, probably got a brand new Merc or BMW parked on his drive  :) I don't domestic customers take any notice of what you drive unless its brand spanking new van then they may question how much their paying you, human nature. And if you do shops and park up and walk you round if I had 200 shops in town I would use the bus or Tram to get about.

Well said Jeff.
Some should remember that when people look down on them for being just a window cleaner. Or that their van/tools are not as good as someone elses.
Just think, you could be Mondeo Man to others.

Oh, and it`s Gucci and they are pain to work in. I stick to Cheaney or Loakes.

I used to be a Cortina man, Sierra man, and Mazdaman. We all have to start somewhere.

Exactly!

In 2003 me and my brother started out in a Mk2 Golf GTi... Then we got a clapped out old escort van... Then we gave up!

Then in 2005 I started up again on my own with a Pure Freedom trolley in an old Transit van... Now I use a van mount in a Peugout Expert van.

The end result hasn't changed... I still "just clean windows"...

A friend of mine used to use an old Lada for carting his w/c gear around. He had it for years, it was built like a tank and he couldn't care less what it looked like.

One day he left the keys in it by mistake in Woolwich (south London). At the end of the day it was still where he left it. On the windscreen was a note which said "Sorry mate, I don't want it either!"

Who needs a shiny new van when an old Lada or Mondeo will do!

John.
Being diplomatic is being able to tell someone to go to hell in such a way that they look forward to the trip.

Ive been Toyota Estate Man and Ford Escort Van Man, Couldnt afford a Mondeo! Nothing to be ashamed of, ive always found its the person cleaning the windows properly and politely that brings the money in a lot more than the vehicle!
Im not scared of heights, just falling from them.
