next year i will getting a made to measure shed fully insulating it putting  an electric point in , buying upright storage tank and using immersion element in there for hot water and buying submersible pump to fill containers on a morning rather than a night with freezing cold water and having them in the kitchen

I built a large cabinate for my gear plus a 2000litre tank and the water in the tank stays at around 7,5 deg without the need for additional heating.

I do have a 1000kw koi tank heater plus thermostat set at 7 deg in addition to that I have a 45watt boat style tube heater with a frost-stat which I keep at the moment set to 5 degs...

I made sure all connections were GEKA quick release and where it was needed ball valves fitted inline...so I can isolate most of the connections within the system.

Polystreen 2x 20mm sheets with double sided foiled bubble wrap seems to work, The whole frame is made of 2x2's....yes it cost a fair bit to build but it's
built and works.

I have also considered getting a bespoke tank made for the van which is double walled/insulated for me next van i.e next winter.

Took this photo this morning of the local crew clearing the main local roads...they are both contracted by the local council to do this...one is a farmer and the other is from a local building company(big).

The guy with the tractor does all the local cycle paths too....

Just goes to show...only a little thought required.

over the next 2 years im changing my work so that my turnover for the year is done between 1 march and xmas, anything else is a bonus, im sick of winter , if i can finish on 24 decemeber till 1 march i will, i cant see why its not a goer, we get the odd storm through summer but im sure its not so much it cant be kept up/ caught up....

might try have a second business/ work for winter!! maybe im just getting too p'd off with this weather but its 2 years on the trot now and im sick of it!! lost about 1k so far with no sign of getting any real serious money earned anytime soon!! slush funds etc are ok but its still anoying that your working to fund winter, theres only so much you can earn and its not fun blowing it all sat around not working on bills

I can understand 2-3 weeks or more but to take of 2-3 months thats not business

no id have some commercial and a bit of resi done all year round but im mainly talking about concentrating on earning what i need for the year between march and december , any extra is a bonus, but yeah between jan and feb id take my hols and do very little :-) im gonna need to work as normal for the next year to build more work , but the year after im gonna give it a go!! slaughter it through march to december then sit back and watch everyone moan about the winter they never expected

Not a bad way to handle it....if you are able to work in those winter months then happy days....but March to December is full on work....
