freezing DI vessels

Has anyone ever had permanent  frost damage  to a DI vessel?

I want to know the same, also any worries with pump damage from freezing...... ?

I did last January. Di vessel cracked and water was seeping out the crack due to pressure, needed replacing.

Mind you the temp dropped to -18 the night it cracked. Was my own fault for not insulating the van enough.

I only think it would be a problem at those extreme temperatures, not the -4 we are expecting this weekend. (IMO of course)

Put an oil filled thermostatic rad next to it and cover it or box it, set it on frost and forget it. However with minus temps for day at a time watch the waste and supply  pipe dont freeze back into the unit- disconnnect the waste if unsure. Or let the waste run into a large container inside the shed and empty it periodically, in extreme circumstances.

wrap an old sleeping bag or fibreglass insulation around it as well

Not to DI's, once had a bit of pump damage but it was repairable.

I bring my DI's & pump box indoors over night when the weather is extreme.
