you used to be able to just get them to endorse [sign} on the back ,but i dont think you can do that now .however places like cashconvertors cash wage cqs so there must be a way .

You can sometimes have problems putting in chqs with your own name spelled wrong so how you gonna get 1 with somebody elses name on it through? For all the bank knows you could have found it blowing down the street!

what it is, i do a hotel  that issue cheques once a month and if i want a new cheque in my name  rather than just blue monkey, i have to wait for the cheque signer to come in, to either give me a new cheque or write this one out properly

I've paid cheques into my account with all sorts of payee names on them, even ones made out to me rather than the company.

I just write my name next to company name on the cheque and pay them in......never had a problem yet

I get all sorts put on my cheques ... Mr Leek, Mr Meek, Mr Leeke, leeksons, leek and sons,mr leeksons - once goldilocks!(I didnt try to bank the last one)

If your a sole trader your name should be part of the bank anyway ie: john smith trading as blue monkey so they shud go through

Blue monkey,

I trade under a different name to my business bank account name (Natwest btw).

I had this problem with a few large commercials paying me by cheque and writing it out to the name on the letterhead / van etc. (which isn't the bank account name)

I contacted Natwest and they sent me a form to fill in which allowed me to choose 3 different payee names. Problem solved.

You can get a form from your bank and get different payee names assigned to your account. I had to do this as the general public tend to be idiots.

If you mean you are adding to what the payee has already written, you are changing the cheque and this is illegal so go careful. Just get the bank to recognise trading name and personal name.

Only if it is a business acount, if i'm reading this right the problem is paying into a personal account.
