« on: November 19, 2010, 08:26:28 am »
:)had a bad day yesterday just 20 mins into cust carpet boom :o vac went smoke out the machine, bit shocked only 6months old,it also knocked out the pump and the other vac so could not finish the job,had to cancel others too ::)
called Amtech went down there as fast as poss they sorted it out there and then, great service with these guys, very pleased with my machine, but shocked
that the vac was not covered under the warrenty ??? as some water at some point had got into the vac area,so much care has always been taken with the machine,ie empty it often not over fill, and dont move the machine while its all running, but great service from the guys and would recomend power flite machines, any one else had this problem I have the 1085 model full spec model :)

We had virtually the same problem, but with a CFR ECO 500. Followed all instructions regarding care to the letter. Works out very expensive, especially when you have to pay for collection & return of item.

think you'll find your vac is covered under the consumers act. its 6 months old and the machine should be designed with water spillage in mind, course there gonna tel you its not covered, sounds like the great service was because they were trying to nip it in the bud quickly before you had time to check out your rights.

I had same problem with my eco 500.  Two vacs went within a year but weren't covered by warranty because water had been sucked up.  I made sure I never overfilled it and that there wasn't any foam inside yet it still happened.  Im sure it was due to poor design inside the tank.  I had to adjust some things to stop it happening.  I think the type of basket filter used was causing turbulance in the water.  I use a different one now and haven't had problems for a while.  It's a shame we have to fork out for possible bad design in machines.

In spite of this it is a good machine.

Terry I wonder if yours has the chinese vacs opposed to the more expensive ametek (i think) ones.  I think the former cause more problems.

Terry a quick way to tell if you have the expensive motors the exhaust part are made of metal not plastic

Thats what the guy from amtech told me on the phone when ordering microsplitter from them

i used to have power flite 1350 and had a prob with turbulance in the waste tank which lead to moisture getting into the vacs  this happened when the waste tank got to half capacity apart from the waste tank design a good machine
