have you ever used
« on: November 16, 2010, 04:54:00 pm »
Hi guys , big day tomorrow , have just got my leaflets back , so im off canvassing , just thinking of last minute preparations and my question is ..........................As anyone ever used a KIRBY cleaner to clean a customers carpet , whatever answer you give , would you use one or not . I have one and clean my carpets so my carpets are always clean , but would i come unstuck if the customers carpet was very soiled . Would i be better just hiring a cleaner or do you think i will be ok with the Kirby . Any help would be brilliant cheers

I started my business 3 years ago and have gone from portable  truckmount and all i had was 2 k in my bac pocket. my business has only moved forward because i have always worked hard to gain repeat business and referrals. I feel you need to have a re think because if you turn up at a customers house with a hire machine or kirby most are not stupid and are not going to be very impressed.

HI Richard , i hear you . you say you have been going for 3-years so when you bought your equipment did you panic a little thinking you hoped you had done the right thing or were you just dedicated in making it work

100 % dedicated to making it work  have you considered leasing equipment you will get a decent setup for 150 month  two jobs a month small jobs at that.

secondly i would say starting now is un wise wait till march next year or you are goin to get fed up in jan. and spend all your money on adverts  you need to go in with the right approach or its not goin to last.

not to mention you may need some basic training if you have not already the list goes on but i am off to work again in min

dont want to put you down feller

good luck in your new venture

but would you be happy if someone came to clean your carpets with a kirby ??

I know its all about the finished carpet and how good a job you go but you will need something that is not going to kill you, never even seen a kirby in action but you wont earn a living with it you will be knackered by lunchtime try HSS they hire a bigger portable with a wand and stair attachment that are okish I used one once when my machine went katatonic one afternoon finished the job ok

ok thanks for your responses , im taking everything on board that people have said.........To be honest thought i might get away with using the Kirby for now and going around the SHAMELESS COUNCIL ESTATE around our way and seeing how they turn out before deciding weather to stay with the Kirby or investing and going to see the big detached houses , but it sounds like i will have to invest first.........CHEERS..........LOL

Look up a thread on here from a few weeks ago about low moisture cleaning with a rotary. It was very popular and evryone seemed to think it was the way to go, but not heard much since about it.

Anyway your Kirby is brillant for hoovering carpets and rugs but sadly not cleaning them properly. If you have little money get a rotary of eb aay, some pads and some mpower, apparently it's all you need.
It's not expensive, you just can't afford it.

The problem on here is you quite often get some wind up merchant on here asking 'daft' questions to get people going. Don't take this the wrong way but using a Kirby to clean someones carpet and part with their cash falls in to that category, hence the responses.

However I fully understand there is no such thing as a daft question and if you don't know then you have done the right thing. (assuming you are not a wind up merchant   ;D)
It's not expensive, you just can't afford it.

Mark,

The whole idea of employing a professional is that they have more knowledge or access to equipment that you do not.

The moment you turn up to someone's house with something they too can hire (say Rug Doctor) or worse still buy (Kirby) you are on a hiding to nothing.

Hi Mike .....Yes i am still interested in setting the oven business going , but with limited budget and know-how i am in 2-minds which one to market first ie leaflets etc , but i am happy to see your getting your jobs in . I see your up in Rochdale , well could i be cheeky and ask if your down on this side again soon could we meet up so i can watch exactly what you do on a job . As when i start i will be marketing Stalybridge , Glossop areas i dont think i would be treading on your toes .
