Tell me about Booster Pumps
« on: October 17, 2010, 02:34:56 pm »
I run my Ro off mains pressure, but I am thinking of getting a booster pump.

Can you set them on auto via a float switch.

How would i set it up with my solenoid valve

Dont think so, because the solenoid is 12v whereas the booster pump is 240v best to, time the first fill then set a timer plug thereafter .

I have the type of booster pump that has a small 20 litre air tank attatched to it.Similar to this but a lot higher pressure

I don't think that one is high enough in pressure.
If the water outlet from it is switch off by means of a tap (or solenoid vave) then the pump stops as its reached its pressure. It will stay off until the tap (valve) is opened again. It will hold that for example 80psi pressure in the line shut off, so you do need good connectors.
I would imagine it would go into your solenoid valve exactly the same as your water does now. They are 'on demand' pressure pumps and will only kick in again when the water is needed.
