hose or metal tubeing
« on: October 17, 2010, 09:16:30 am »
Hi all

I am now at the stage of getting a gutter vac , and am wondering which will be the best one to buy ?

should i get the polar vac with the plastic hose that connects to a window cleaning pole ,
or should i go for the eastern tradeing one with the metal tubes

Cost wise there is not much in it as i would have to get a new pole as well for the polar vac , so for those that have a gutter system how do you find using it ?, are there any draw backs with either units ?

Hi Andy.

Good question I'm in exactly the same position at the moment, looking to buy a guttervac and like you unsure whether to go for Polarvac with regular vac hose and a pole, or an Eastern trading one with alum tubes.

Personally I'm more inclined to go for the alum tubing as the pole and hose option seems heavy and cumbersome, I was wondering whether you can adapt the Polarvac to be used with alum tubing?

Any guttervac owner operators who can help and offer advise on this subject will be much appreciated  :)

I guess ideally you will want to use both tubing and hose on some jobs, like for sucking up leaves and muck from gullies on flat roofs low level gutters etc?

I WENT FOR EASTERN (SORRY CRAIG ;)) AND THE TUBING IS OK BUT I AM LOOKING TO REPLACE WITH CARBON FIBRE TUBES TO SUCK THROUGH, BUT HAVING A JOB FINDING SOME AT REASONABLE PRICE, I KNOW THE GARDINER BASE SECTIONS ARE THERE IF I CANT FIND ANYTHING. INTERESTING THAT THE
EASTERN GUTTERVAC HAS GONE UP FROM £499 TO £599 TO £649 ALL IN ABOUT 6 MONTHS!  :o

Hi Dan.

What do you get with the Eastern Trading Vac and do they have a specific name for the Vac they sell? what parts are included what height can you go with the tubing they supply? can you add to it if you need to go higher? can you also use regular vac hose as well as tubing? have you used your Vac much yet and how do you rate it?

Sorry for all the questions but interested to find out all I can before making my choice  :)

YOU GET 18FT OF VAC TUBE, EXTRA 6FT SECTIONS AVAILABLE @£50 EACH ALTHO HE MAY OF JACKED THE PRICE UP. I HAVE A MATE WHO USES @30FT WITH NO PROBLEMS BUT HE DOESNT USE CIU. AS I SAY I WOULD RATHER REPLACE WITH CARBON FIBRE TUBING IF I CAN GET IT FOR THE RIGHT PRICE. VERY HAPPY WITH IT ALL IN ALL. YOU WILL HAVE TO ASK POLAR VAC USERS ABOUT RETRO FITTING VAC HOSE TO WFP, BUT I RECKON IT WILL BE A BIT UNWEILDY/OFF BALANCE. YOU WILL NEED AT LEAST A 6KVA GENNI AS 3KVA ARE NOT QUITE MAN ENOUGH TO RUN ALL 3 MOTORS.

Andy im sure your already doing this by the sounds of it, but i was running a little black book quoting and getting jobs from existing customers had over £1000 worth of work lined up before i bought my vac  ;)
