What Chemicals to have?
« on: October 14, 2010, 05:25:00 pm »
I'm just starting out and have completed my training and starting to get work slowly. Could anyone tell the correct arrange of chemicals I should have on the van day to day for stain removal?

I understand different stains and carpets require different treatments, but there must be a number that you find yourself using time and time again.

I'm currently using cleansmart as my suppiler and they seem very good.

Thanks
J.

It's good to have a range of chemicals & spotters but you will find there are some you get on with and others you will not. To start with use this link to Prochem http://www.prochem.co.uk/stain_removal_guide.htm A supplier like Restormate or Cleansmart are suppliers for different manufacturers like Prochem, Chemspec and Craftex as well as their own range and it will do no harm to use their resources and experience as you find your feet. You will find products like microsplitters or others like M-Power, fusion 8 and Nemisis that can be used in various dilutions for different stain removal and as general pre-sprays. These are versatile chemicals and worth the research.

It's worth getting a selection of some different carpet samples of different fibre types from a carpet shop and staining them, leave for a few days and develop the skill of stain removal. It's both a challenge and rewarding.

You will come to find your own favourites but I favour mostly Chemspec solutions for my main carpet and upholstery jobs and pre sprays but there are some excellent Prochem solutions out there too. Prochem's Stain Pro is an absolute must for general spotting and Chemspec's Enzall is the most potent pre spray I have. Chemspec Formula 90 is superb for extracting on carpets and you can have it in liquid or powder form.

Hope this helps.
