begining of October lull?
« on: October 05, 2010, 06:04:15 pm »
I'm now in my 9th week as full time CC and since I started full time I have been relatively busy.

I have noticed the last 2 weeks the phone hasn't been ringing. Is there usually a lull about now when people will put of having CC done for a few weeks and have them done before xmas?

I might be expecting things to happen too quick but only have 6 jobs this week and half of these are minimum charge jobs.Should I be getting worried?

I thought things would have gone mad when the kids went back to school.

May hay while the sun shines.

Yes been doing a lot these last 2 weeks but prior to that I was busy so I didnt get much done.

I know I should be leafleting even when busy.

After my first 16 months i have noticed a big increase over this time last year a lot of my work now coming from recommendations, in fact two today booked in from them, which is nice if it continues at the same rate i would expect this time next year to be well and truely established
the last three months have been very good and expect that to continue as xmas last year was busy and had only been going a few months, January and February was tough so new starters put Decembers taking in the bank.

I haven't been going long and found that August was when it dried up pretty badly.

I have a few small jobs to keep me ticking over, but I'm just not managing the get the bigger or high end jobs at the moment.

I'm working on it!

Oh I remember the days.... :)

It really does make your ring twitch a bit when you open your diary and it doesn't look like you'll be working that week.

But I'm sure many of the older hands will tell you new guys the same thing - you simply stop worrying about it after a while.  You just have to trust that it's completely random and sometimes you have a little barren patch.  Before you've had time to pull all your hair out, you'll be busy again.

I quite enjoy a quiet week or two if I'm honest!  Had one last week, was lovely - walked the dog in the day, caught up on some desk work, even had a lie in on a Tuesday!!!

Keep the faith, if you deserve it you'll succeed :)

With you on that Jim,i started off this week with 2 bookings on Monday, and a return visit ,to test carpets at the Pitt club.
Nothing for the rest of the week, big job on Friday cancelled ,due to new owners of the house wanting to remove all the nearly new carpet and replace them, then booked 2 jobs for today on Tuesday..

I also enjoy my days off,as i always have loads on the go.
Does worry me though when i get to the end of the month, and i don`t have at least a grand that the agencies i work for owe me.

Last month was a bad month for paying out my hard earned money, grand on the van, then mot on the roc, which it sailed through, then 2 lot`s of road tax.

But like you say, swings and roundabouts
What goes around comes around

def with jim on this one i try to look at the bigger picture and compare from previous years i generally am very busy first half of the year due to the area i am in august- oct bit patchy in places but averages its self out. i personally think that some people if thet rely on leaflets ad put them out themselves may suffer frompeaks and troughs as when busy they dont do the drops. i market consistantly throughout the year in the same places and know it gets me the work so if there is alull i know its not me.

When the alarm goes off at 6am I'm up, up 1,2,3 down 1,2,3 then the other sock ;D

I like to be busy, keeps me out of harms (mrs) way and there's no lay in with the kids going to school anyway I'd rather be the first to get them up not the other way around.

This is me in the morning
