Rotaries
« on: September 17, 2010, 09:26:14 pm »
I've got my eye on 2 rotaries, one with a tank, one without.

Is there a major benefit to having a tank  ?

you only need a tank if you are going to use it for shampooing, then you'll also need the shampoo brush, but no shampoos carpets any more ( unless you use it for encapping)

a tank is no good for putting down pre-spray

Steve I wouldn't bother, you can always apply a solution by spray comes to the same thing if you were thinking about hard floors.

Works for me.
I use a tank on my one for commercials with pre-spray in it.

Steve

I have to disagree with my learned colleagues, wouldnt be without my water tank on the rotary especially on hard floors when products like stripper can start to dry out on you and of course you have the option of using just water in the tank or a diluted version of the pre-spray your using, it just helps to keep all the soiling moving freely until your ready to extract.

Steve ,
A tank will save you a lot of time if you are ever going to do hard floor scrubbing or restoration work and is not detrimental to the operation of the machine if you do not use it. Steve it depends on your work rotaries have a lot of variations for instance I do quite a lot of deep cleans and restoration work on hard floors so a tank on a slower machine saves me a lot of time but I also have a high speed machine with a vac unit for polishing and the vac units saves a lot of time for the need of sweeping or vacuuming before and after the polish. A selection of machines will add more scope to your business as there is not one machine that will do it all, unless you buy a variable speed with inter-changeable tank and vac.

How about a tank half full with stairs, the extra weight and your on your own?  Imo they are +'s and -'s and needs to be judged on your own merit's imo. The thing is IMO it a handy thing, take the Chemstractor, handy if your doing a system 10 and shampoo is an option?

surely if you have a tank then then you can choose wether or not you use it but if you do'nt have one you got no choice !.
steve i thought you were looking at the package from restormate a while ago, it looked like a good deal to me especially with all the bonnets included in the deal but anything would look good to me cos i do'nt yet know what i am talking about lol.

Thanks for the replies guys - it sounded like a stupid question when I typed it.

I think the main benefit for me would be for hard floors, which I plan on expanding into in a bigger way next year, as others have mentioned I can't see much use for it with carpets at present, but I stand to be corrected.

I can get a good condition Numatic with a tank for £200, including drive board and brush.

Like the look of John's package deal, but I've just bought the new Airflex, I need to upgrade the van and a new cfr tool is a priority as my drimaster is showing it's age.

Steve

If come with a tank get it I had to buy an extra one earlier in the year over a £100 oh you could adapt the machine for bonneting by putting on a pump and spray unit (think I was more less the 1st to use Nick’s machine like the idea so much I adapted mine)

Agree with Len.  If it comes with a tank at that price Steve - you've got nothing to lose.
The tank does speed up hard floor cleaning no end.     As for carpets - waste of time if you are seriously cleaning them.  If you are just faffing about pretending to clean carpets then ok you can use it there as well ;)

Tanks aren't just useful for shampooing, a number of the newer generation encap solutions can be administered by a gravity fed tank, like those found on rotaries.

Saying that, I don't use a tank due to the additional weight considerations.

I've had a rotary without a tank for 3 years and can now see why a tank would save alot of time, especially on commercial carpets and hard floors. Next time, definately a tank.

Speak to Keith Nicholson at Chemspec Direct Birmingham, he is selling on behalf of the importer in Lymm, Cheshire. They were at Carpex in Coventry this year.
