The unfortunate thing is there are lots of people out there who give credence to that fact.

How many times have you had a customer tell you "the last guy left them wet for days" I hear that on a weekly basis from cleaners in my shop.

They sound desperate for work if they are making claims like that ::)

Anyone can leave carpets wet for days with any machine, it's all down to the operator!!!!

Their not desperate for work Colin. This is a perfectly planned marketing strategy used by a number of outfits.

It sure sounds desperate to me, but hey, each to their own ::)

;D It's interesting how they have still customers. If I were customer , hire cleaning company and they leave my carpet wet i wouldn't hire them again.

In my opinion you should not slag off the completion.

However I suspect it does happen

I think it's how subtle you slag them off.
It's not expensive, you just can't afford it.

There are a lot of people that can teach all they know about carpet cleaning to a monkey off the street in 15 minutes. The last people that know they are doing a terrible job is themselves, as their customers will just contact a competitor and relay the story of the terrible job that they had done last time to them.
The monkey in the street carries on oblivious and in the mind that he is doing the same standard of work as anybody else.
I have been called out to jobs that other people have done where polypropylene carpets are still sowing 34% moisture 24 hours after cleaning.
I have seen some really stupid things done by other carpet cleaners, so when I have a customer on the phone I do make it clear to customers that the services available do vary drastically.
This is not a new thing it happens in all industries and walks of life there are always those that think that money is more important than the way that they come by it.
