Kanackered van....
« on: September 16, 2010, 07:54:57 pm »
Hey

about two months ago i needed a new alternator on my van as the wee red battery light came on.

So last friday, the van started making funny noises! Almost like there was somthing stuck on the wheels! When i phoned my mechantic he said "it sounds like the power steering.. bring it on moday and i'll check it out"  I used it all weekend and there was no noises what so ever! So thought, it must of just been a glitch.... so never brought it to the garage.

Fast forward today   :'(

The noises came back! the wee red light came on and when i pulled over to look under the bonnet there was steam (not loads but still enough) and the coolant fluid tank was empty, and when i looked down in to the engine there was coolant fluid all over the place!
I tried pouring water in to the coolant tank tonight but it just ped out of the bottom on the van. (NOT THE TANK)

Anyone know what the problem can be??

Summery of problems:

1. wee red battery light coming on.
2. funny noise
3. coolant fluid doesn't want to stay in the coolant fluid tank.

FFS FFS FFS!!!

Its a Ford Transit Connect.

thanks in advance
A Grumpy Tony

The transit forum is great for answering stuff like this.  I have sorted my van out for next to nothing from that forum.

Sounds like a seized water pump, that has possibly split it`s case,,belt will prob be slipping on the pulley and not charging
