seen that a few guys have got there new toy now and im sure youve been using it for a while now so whats the verdict?

Hi Martin,

I've seen a few of your posts on the Aqua-dapter threads.  I sense that you're tempted, am I right? 

We've re-launched the website and for the first month of the new site (until 15th September) we're offering 20% off the price of the Aqua-dapter, so now is a good time to buy.

The hose that fits in it, via a John Guest style push fitting is useless. Lasted 1 day being used by Dave (our most savage employee).

It is a good idea, but why are these good ideas never Dave proofed?

I have modified the hose, so it fits a stiffer John Guest pipe then onto a ordinary pole hose.

The main problem that I have is we run 2 poles off 1 pump so when you turn the water off via tha aquadapter it just increases the flow through the other pump. This reduces the amount of water saved.

Don't get me wrong though it still saves water. If I wanted to go further with it I'd need 2 pumps per vehicle.

We tested the hose up to 15kgf (the unit only requires 3kgf to operate).  Believe me we have some savage testers, but we'll have to keep your 'Dave' in mind for the future 

A tube strengthening hard plastic insert is supplied with every hose to prevent the problem you describe.  It should be inserted into the end of the hose before the hose is pushed into the push-fit connector.

That said, we're researching different hoses, so we'll keep your comments in mind.  Eliminating the need for the tube insert would be a benefit for us.

I'm sorry that you don't save as much water as others do, but as you've pointed out this is just a consequence of running the 2 poles off one pump, not really a problem with the Aqua-dapter.  If the flow of water is reduced or turned off on one pole, regardless of the method of flow control used, it will obviously increase the flow on the other.

Hope you're pleased with them, and glad you're saving some water anyway

also waiting to see if you or someone is gonna sell it complete with a pole?? - dont fancy cutting my poles.

As I said the aqua dapter is good, we'll have to work out a way around the 1 pump thing.

As for Dave, had you thought about employing a Baboon as a tester?

like alot of others im waiting to see what its like after a few months ...

I see, but if everyone waits, there won't be anyone to ask what it's like

We have people who've been using it for 12 months ...I was going to say "without problems" but of course it was during that time that we worked out what was needed for the hose, and made slight tweaks and adjustments... but no major problems, those guys are using the same units they've had for all that time, and they're still working just as well.

You should see the prototype version that went out well before that - it wasn't pretty, but it outlasted the pole that it was on!  I'm thinking about getting some photos done of it for interest in the future.

We had it out in the field for over 6 months before we even offered it for sale.

It's already over a month since the first reviews from customers started appearing.

Did you know that you don't actually need to cut your pole?  We recommend it for various reasons, but there are alternatives (like just removing the end screw and saving it so you could glue it back in - although you won't want to!)  See our FAQs page.

There are ideas/deals in the pipeline for 'all-in-one' solutions.  However, they're not going to happen for a while - think of all the water you could save and so the extra jobs you could do in the meantime!

We have Brodex 3yg poles. The aqua-dapter does not fit directly into it (the pole is the same diameter as the aqua-dapter).

A simple insert sorted it though.

Talking about the hose supplied by the Aqua-dapter guys. I think it's the best hose I have used. It is very very tough,  getting the likes of a rosebush thistle through it is impossible. When I first held it I thought, nah too rigid, I wont get on with this but it is surprisingly flexible in use. If you are buying a pole hose even if you don't have the A/D then this new stuff is the best and by far.

and you don't need to cut your pole, just remove the insert with the tapered thread.

Would like to see the aqua dapter come as standard with a tube insert added to the aqua dapter so it fits most poles.

I use gardiners SLX pole (old version 25slx with a No.2 as no.1), as my domestic pole, so the aqua dapter is too tight a fit on the pole at moment but workable by turning the pole to the right 90 degrees and pulling on the aqua dapter slowly. Need to get a tube insert really to overcome the problem but I'm too lazy at mo.

I've just fitted one to my CLX pole - first impressions are excellent.
It grieved me having to cut the end of my pole off as I was unable to remove the brush adaptor without taking this drastic action.
I also looked at the possibility of drilling a larger hole in the adaptor but felt that this wasn't the solution. There was also a shoulder on this adaptor that would have to be filed down so the aqua-adaptor would slide on snuggly.

A big draw back is that its an on/off operation and we sometimes used our taps to reduce water flow on some occassions. The other issue I can see is accidentally switching the water flow on when the hose gets hooked an some obstacle when moving to the next window.

Now my son wants me to find some way of fitting it to his fishing pole - hose on the outside.

so far the aqua daptor has been really good, the yellow hose is brilliant, it has not kinked once,  curled or twisted up, o i have snaged my hose loads of times, not once has it accidently switched on

Well I have had mine for about 10 days, the pole that I use most is the Gardiner SLX, it was a very tight fit, I did manage to fit it but it never works properly, the top wheel keep slipping, I have wrote to Duncan about it and he has promised to send a new type, but as yet I haven’t received the new type, so a bit disappointed .
