Sadly - van theft being reported on the forum is a steady and worrying occurence.

If you have a "modern van" with built in immobiliser and haven't left the keys in then how easy is it to steal?

Do you need to leave the keys in? Why would you? (To gain power from your battery to the pump on some set ups?)

a modern system if you are running off the van battery should not need to have the keys left in,

i think a lot of the theft is other wc to cut back on the competition,  like when they burn out pallet yards etc

my peugeot partner van has a little lever on the back door locks ,that once set you can only open the door with a key i-e   everytime must use the key, like POST OFFICE vans always used to be

i remember ages ago a few pikeys stoppes us at the lights and said from his clapped out transit - can i have your ladders? you dont need them now you have that fancy pole! go on! pull over! ill take them off!

said no sorry and  by then lights were green, he followed us to a large retirement home and then i didnt see him.

we had a 3 vans at the job, connect and two transits - he must have been watching us cuz we had a pole nicked, cones,hose reel and some pressure washer bits, oh yeah and some mcds 99p sun glasses!

gutted about the sun glasses!

ive seen a pikey in my area who always just cut trees and then he started wc with another chap, had a nice looking fusion pole but no sun glasses.

aint seen them for a while tho.

all this is worrying! we are gonna end up like the truck drivers in usa with a shotgun in the van ...

where are you working is this a national problem maybe we could code equipment if any body is offered any or comes across any look out for each other !

the problem is that you are getting a lot of newbies starting up who would buy stolen gear, a few scallys aint going to bothered if its stolen gear as they prob be signing on anyway,  they prob only started after nicking the gear.

ask your self if some one knocked on your door and said i got a full system for £200  do you want it  or said i got a slx pole £40  how many would say no
