how best to use it on my android phone? (htc hero)
i've got full docs2go so can create/edit excel files on the device, though from comparing, it is easier to look at it in full screen on the laptop than on a handheld device. not sure if i would want or need to 'look' at the round info while working as i know it so well..
i bet i could input my whole round into roundtracker without looking at my book.
names, addreses and prices.  ::)

Hi

When I started out as a newbie last year I downloaded the free trial versions of George, WC Pro and Round Tracker. I found limitations with both George and WC Pro, so plumped for Round Tracker, it doing all I needed to do. It cost me£25.

Since then i've had the upgrade to version 4 PRO (a free upgrade) and have just this week had the next upgrade. I have to say that it's the best £25 I ever spent - it's well worth the money.

The program is flexible to take care of all your round management needs, even if you have multiple vans/operatives. Banking is a piece of cake and I was able to prep accounts for my accountant in just a few seconds this year. It's easy to learn how to use, produces fast, accurate job sheets. Easy filters help you see what you need etc. Backup from the supplier is second to none. Well, maybe Gardiners can come close... :-)

I reckon it's underpriced at the £37 figure now. If you are looking for a simple, uncomplicated but highly functional piece of round management software then give it a go is my advice.
Carl,

would be interested to know what you found limited on wcpro compared to round tracker, george is simple thats not hard to understand.

No, it requires Microsoft Excel. (At least version 2002. If you have Excel 2007 or 2010 even better)

Here's a screen shot of how it looks on an iphone.

You can obviously move around the page and if you use iphone do all that cool finger expanding and collapsing stuff..

(This is a 'snapsot' of the Home page. The first column showing the jobs as Late, the second by how many days it is late, the last rescheduled date entered, the blank yellow column would show an outstanding amount value, the other blank one whatever you want to use it for, the last done date and then name of job etc. - basically you can copy right across to the calendar if you want. )

Note:  I recommend just using the handheld device for reference and not for updating info etc. (Though you could do that if you have mobile office and transfer the data to a blank unprotected worksheet. - Just too much faff to update on a device in my opinion. Time is precious whilst you are out working. Only takes a minute on desktop when you get back to base. I personally print the worksheets, use them just for reference then update when get back. The screen shot shows that rather than printing you can have it on your device for reference. )

The way I recommend to use RTv4 PRO on any handheld device with an internet connection is to copy the whole range of cells from the Home page, Job List or Income History pages and paste them directly into an email. You can then view a 'snapshot' of the Home page, or Income History on your device by opening the email.

They are not editable like this but it's quick to do and gives you a reference if you need to check something when you are out and about.

The trial version is just to give you an idea of how to use it and what it does.

You can still add in the dates etc. but if I were to allow the entering of info in the other cells then people wouldn't need to buy it to use it.  :)

(I know usually there is a time limit or expiry on free trials but being honest I couldn't figure out how to do that with it being based in Excel.)  :P

ok ive got the trial also and am having a play around. ive put a few customers in.
but when i go to save the excel file to documents it comes up saying that some parts are not compatible and will not be reloaded or something like that.
i have excel/office 2007??

looking at the options it does say something like: save as > excel macro enabled.
you mentioned earlier about macros (whatever they are) should i save it as macro enabled???

first impressions are that it looks good. so much nicer than the old one

ez I couldn't mine to work either for the same reason then I had a security message from my laptop that had disabled the macros. so i clicked on it and enabled macros and that seemed to do the trick. I did try saving it in different formats as well but could not get it right until I did this

If you have Excel 2007 or 2010 then yes. (Earlier Excel versions don't support this file format so we provide it in .xls format which can then be saved as .xlsm if you have the more recent version.)

This depends on the Macro Security settings in the Trust Centre found in Excel options. The code used in RTv4 PRO is digitally signed so you can set your security levels to allow only digitally Macros if you wish.

There is also a dedicate support forum if you have any issues.

Hi WindowWashers. I can't remember now what the issues were particularly with WC PRO. I seem to remember that columns used to go out of line when one of the buttons was pressed (was it the Maintain button?). It was quite a while ago now - probably 20 months or so. For me Round Tracker did all I needed to for around 15% of the price.

I got the demo version and couldn't get on with it. Seemed very old-fashioned to me.

Lee09 and EZclean (and anyone else that has tried the free trial)

Can you tell me how you got on with the Free Trial please.

I'm thinking of changing how the Free Trial is set up and I'm looking for any feedback.

Much appreciated,

Mark
