Just before xmas as the snow was just starting i saw someone pressure washing a roof strolling about without a care and he would dissapear into his van when the snow got too heavy only to come out and blast the snow off the roof and start cleaning again.
Either he has some kind of gravity defying top secret NASA boots on or he was just plain loopy,i think the latter.

my mate puts scrims under his ladders when its wet or icy (antislip) and says that if you put them under your boots using strong elastic bands you will never slip on wet decking/ice etc....maybe it was him up the roof that day  :D

a damp scrim under the ladder works better than most of the anti slip devices, we used this method for years on slippy floors in schools, your mate is right about tieing fabric around shoes in icy conditions to stop you slipping as they have been doing this for years in poland infact if you google tyre socks then this method is being used instead of snow chains and works brilliantly.
better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak out and remove any doubt

I was at my first customers today just getting paid. The customer was talking to me but staring over the road, finally he said "Cor  look at that"

The house over the road was a pre 1920s detatched house, on the very top of the roof stood a man with a pressure washer cleaning the roof.
It was a high roof too and quite steep yet he was strolling around without a care in the world. He wasn't some young kid either, quite an old bloke with a bald head. Old fashioned bib and brace overalls.

It never ceases to amaze me what some people find acceptable as a way of earning a living.

sounds like Irish, i know some local to me they do that as well as block paving

had some boys round here, pressure washing roofs, just standing on the roof, no gear on at all.
Their sealing the roofs, which involves spraying them with a sealer.
One neighbour had it done about six months ago.
When they went in the loft all the sealer had come through causing a right old mess, also all the sealer is now off the roof! cowboys.
