What price Customer service
« on: July 29, 2010, 10:54:48 pm »
Been thinking about whether to mention this, but thought i should i have had what i would call a less than trusting relationship with the company that serviced my "now" spare machine and now have a Airflex Turbo which although not new is as good as with only 7 hours on when i got it 3 weeks ago.
Now when i got it i tracked down someone already using the Airflex who recommended a glide and perhaps 2 inch hoses, i thought about it and gave Mat a call at cleansmart and he agreed that a glide would be a good idea and on some carpets, not all but some would leave them dryer and would ease the work of pushing the wand about which was difficult at times.
When i mentioned the 2 inch hoses he asked what length i was working at and i said no more than 75 ft, he said, "in that case i would stick with the 1.5 you have" after the phonecall i thought he only had to say "yes get the 2 inch you need them for the very best water lift, vac strength, mercury lift, etc etc" and i would have gladly paid him.
So what price do you put on trust, well never buying from a supplier you dont trust again. and glad i have found someone i can, i know a few exist and we know who they are, and a few that should know better.

Thanks Mat for the good "honest" advice

PS the DVD you sent me wont play  >:(

James,

No disrespect to Matt, but I think he is wrong on this occasion. Apparently you can only get so many CFM's through a 1.5 inch hose, especially when you've got triple vacs. If you put 2 inch hose on your machine you will get so much more airflow. If you don't want to use a full 50 foot length of 2 inch then have the last 25' as two inch, this allows the air to accelerate when it gets to the 2 inch section giving much better performance. And you will get even better performance with all 2 inch. Why not borrow a length of 50' 2 inch and give it a try, you'll be amazed at the difference it makes. If you use a 2 inch bore wand that too will increase performance.

James,

I use Cleansmart and concur with everyones views that they provide a good honest service ( like it should be).

However I have to agree with Simon on the 2 inch hose - 1.5 inch hose definitely throttles the vacuum performance of an Airflex turbo. With 2 inch hoses and a large bore wand you will get drier carpets. I have been using 3 vac machines (now Airflex Turbo) for many years and I have experimented with a number of combinations of hoses to try to get the best performance. 2 inch hose is best by far and with a 2 inch wand if you can stretch your budget that far.

Have you ever seen a truckmount with 1.5 inch hose. No -  for exactly the same reason in that it would hamper performance. 1.5 inch hose is best suited to twin or single vac portables.

I am not suggesting that you need to rush out and change all your hoses and wand. The Airflex will work very well with your current set up. However if you were buying a new one I would definitely recommend going with 2 inch from the start. There is however a downside to 2 inch hose - it is much more difficult to handle on site etc.

Maybe that is what Matt was saying.

James, your machine will do a very good job with 1.5" hoses, but like Nigel and Simon have said - a 2" hose will do better.

However, like Nigel says no need to rush out to spend your money, you ARE going to get a good job done with 1.5, just that 2" is better.

When I change my Scorpion over from 1.5 to 2" some 2.5 years ago the difference in performance was very noticeable.
I kept my 1.5" wand (just need a 2"-1.5" reducer) and I have the first 10' at the wand end 1.5" - more flexible when you are in a tight bedroom etc.

I mentioned flexibility of hose. The 2" tend to be less flexible - thats why I have 10' of 1.5" at the wand.  Solutions Cornwall did a less rigid 2" hose - certainly easier to work with in the house and definately easier to coil up for your van. Dont know whether they still do this hose - check it out.

For customer service I rank Solutions Cornwall, Restormate and Cleansmart all top notch.
I have personal experience with all three.
Others that do or may get mentioned - I cannot comment on as I have no experiance with them.

didn't read all of joes post but like he said, mat is saying you don't need it, not, it won't give you better lift, at the end of the day you can add loads to that machines to make it better but you chose that machine cos its good, so why change it, if you want better lift or more heat or higher psi then really, you should of bought a machine that had that. if you get what i mean.

i could buy a 2 inch wand and make my mchine better but i don't need to so why spend the money.

youve got a good machine, get out there and earn some money instead of spending your profits on making it slightly better.

noooo neeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeed ;D

I seem to have opened a can of worms ??? to be honest whether Mat is right or not is not the point of my post, and not the issue, my point is he could not see the benefit "for me" and that was his priority not making a "fast buck" when he could easily have done so on the point of hoses i find it an almighty pain in the rear end at the moment pulling and putting my hoses away after each job probably the thing i hate most so if 2 inch are much worse :(

James,
You're quite right, Matt could just have grabbed the cash as many would have done and that is why you respect him and rightly so.

Some years ago a guy bought a Spitfire 4.0 from Hydramaster but insisted on having 2.5 inch vac hose instead of the normal 2 inch.  After a few months he contacted John telling him that he was not very impressed with the performance of the Spitfire 4.0.  It was explained that the 1 .5 inch vac hose was holding back the true performance.  In the end the guy agreed to have some 2 inch hose, i was asked by John to go to this guy to sort out a small problem on the machine and give the guy the 2 inch vac hose.  After having a lengthly chat with the guy we fired up his 4.0 and connected the 2 inch hose......he was gobsmacked at the vac poer / performance straight away.

2 inch hose will open up the true performance of the Airflex.
