Extremely unlikely to be the pressure switch, when they go the pump usually doesn't work.
easy to test though; bend the hose between pump and reel to pinch off the flow completely, I can assure you the pump will cut out!
you don't necessarily need to change the male connector, the reel is spinning all of the time, friction eventually wears down the seal between male and female connector.
Garden centres sell packs of these O ring seals on their hoselock stands, so if you have a brass male connector just cut the old O ring with a Stanley knife and pop a new one on.
if it is a plastic male connector then don't bother replacing the seal, just replace the connector.
