Make sure you haven't got an air lock.

There is a screw on the top of the sureflo pump. This controls the pump pressure, it
is probably set too high. This would create your problem as the pump will continually
build up pressure until the hose connectors blow off. Try screwing it, check, try again or screw out.

oosening off screw release pressure then and tighten increases pressure.

also heard people saying do not adjust anything on pump

I had this a while ago and it turned out to be a dodgy hoselock fitting ( it was a "water stop" one ) I changed it for a "straight thro" type and havent had a problem since... i think when the water is flowing the fittings "pull back" on the male fitting , causing a bad connection.

Hope that makes sense!

I had the same a few weeks ago, I aslo changed the "Male" hoselock fitting on the reel as it was this that was worn. I put the stainless hoselock one on now, seems alot better than the brass one!

pump should switch off when pressure gets over 100 psi, if it doesnt it means pressure switch is not working or not connected properly.

The plastic hoselocks seem to go a bit soft in the warm weather and jump off. Especially on the hoselock pump to reel connection because it wears when you spin the hose in and out so often.

I changed to Gardena versions and haven't had the prob this year yet.
It's a game of three halves!

what pressure switch are we talking about here , as when using a shurflo pump with a varistream the pressue switch gets disconnected .

Extremely unlikely to be the pressure switch, when they go the pump usually doesn't work.
easy to test though; bend the hose between pump and reel to pinch off the flow completely, I can assure you the pump will cut out!

you don't necessarily need to change the male connector, the reel is spinning all of the time, friction eventually wears down the seal between male and female connector.
Garden centres sell packs of these O ring seals on their hoselock stands, so if you have a brass male connector just cut the old O ring with a Stanley knife and pop a new one on.
if it is a plastic male connector then don't bother replacing the seal, just replace the connector.

Think Ian is on the money there...I have found that as Winter goes into spring and autumn into winter I used to experience leaks and 'pop-off's'..seeing as I only have one plastic hozelock connector it just gets changed and the brass male connector on the reel gets the o'ring changed regularly.

Cheers
Dave.

Id definatly agree with the "o" ring theory. Had this many times, just try new o ring, or sometimes as a temp fix, turn it around.
