Going to have to start chasing debts more seriously
« on: July 13, 2010, 07:53:50 pm »
I leave a stamped addressed envelope for anybody who isn't home when I clean. Most are great and send within a few days. However, a few let it roll and pay double every now and then. However, whjat I have started to notice is that more and more are saying 'I was in that day, I don't think I could have missed you' or 'I'm sure I paid that'.

I think I am going to have to start sending reminder texts, anybody know a good way of putting it without seeming overly pushy and how long would you wait before chasing the debt?

What do you write on the slip? What does it say on the slip?

on my slips i write the day And the time i cleaned it.  then on my worksheet pencil in the same time ,so i have a no doubt of it all,a reference  .

before i started this system i had one woman rang me and swear blind i had been turning up a week early and in the confusion i let her have a clean for free. later realized she did this as she was a bit skint.

I drop a little card to let them know they have been cleaned, saying i will call later to collect, (apart from the ones who pay online or cheques  like clockwork)

then if they are not in at the end of the day i post similar to yours,.... but i write on it RING ME FIRST AS I MAY STILL BE IN THE AREA.

I have no bad debt.

very good. Some of the extraneous stuff should be on the back.

Am i right in assuming you don't give them an addresed envelope?

Am i right in assuming this slip is paper and not card?

Mine say please pay within seven days, but kndly pay within seven days is better grammar.

I though of that but was afraid people may not read it

I leave them a stamped addressed envelope (no excuse then)

A5 paper, not card.

Mine say please pay within seven days, but kndly pay within seven days is better grammar.

I was thinking of putting 'all payments due within 10 days' and chasing up after 14. As for collecting, I don't see most of my customers durning the day. I would need to spend hours collecting every night and I have no intention of going back to that. I do collect from some stubborn customers but they don't last long.

I use the same as yours david351 although have modified it a bit i saw it posted on here once and thought they were really good with the idea of the extra services on the bottom and it does work as i have had a number of enquires some which have turned into profitable jobs, so i guess a thank you is in order  :D

David - that is an excellent card to put through.

If I was a custy I would be impressed - very professional, lots of payment options

Do you get much extra business from the bits at the bottom?

The only thing that I thought was worth adding was asking for referalls - but then again I am building a round so that may not be relevant to you

Yes, I get a couple of jobs a month off the boxes at the bottom. You could add a section on the back for referals with space for a name, address and contact number.
