curtain cleaning - in situ at care home
« on: June 23, 2010, 09:20:11 am »
I have been asked if I could clean curtains in situ ai a care home. This is something I have never done before. Does anyone do this and what sort of price could I charge?

Thanks

Thanks to Shaun Ashmore and John Kelly of Restormate having given me some top advice on the pricing and pitfalls of on site curtain cleaning - I recently quoted and won my first big curtain job - large school curtains - it isnt as easy as you would think - firmly beleive my credible approach and knowledge got me the job as I stuck with recommended pricing.  It turned out to be a good upper body workout to say the least!!and a VERY good days pay to boot.  PM me for price.

I say this as a carpet cleaner & drycleaner, the only problem with cutain cleaning in public or commercial premices, is that curtains have to be flame retarded to British standard or ISO standard, with dry cleaning it is removed and then retarded again, I dont know what happens in insitu cleaning, just my opinion

Hi Rob

Low moisture cleaning doesnt remove the flame retardancy whereas dry cleaning does.  There are no required qualifications to re-apply flame retardant  solution to fabric should the need arise.

Not trying to argue, but what proof or testing proves it doesnt remove the flame retarding, dry cleaning doesnt allway remove, but we re-apply for safety sakes, we do lots of school curtains and nursing homes, so allways extra careful
