Just returned from a camping trip to read this very sad news. My thoughts are with Judy and his family at this sad time. Having met him on the training course he was a great teacher, a very pleasant man and a true legend in his field, he will be sadly missed.

Truly saddened to hear this awful news. Me and my wife Sarah attended the leather course in 2008 and were both very impressed by Andy’s professional manner and astute detail to teach.

I have a customer in Harrogate who sings Andy’s praise every time I see her. This was in connection to a very expensive, stained and worn out leather pull-up head board; I put her in touch with Andy and he renovated the piece back to almost new condition.

Anyone who met Andy could see that he was truly dedicated to the industry and helping others. He was also a
cracking guy, engaging, mild mannered and had a great sense of humour.
Our thoughts are with Judy and family at this difficult time.
Rest in peace Andy

Pete & Sarah

I met Andy a couple of times and would echo all those positive comments that have already been said about him.

It really is a very sad loss and my sincere condolences go to Judy and all those close to him

As one of the several representatives from our industry who attended Andy's ceremony, I thought I'd just say a few words to round off this subject, as it's been left kind of hanging a little bit.

The day was a very warm and relaxed affair. We mingled and shared a few coffees in the morning before wandering down the the burial site. It's one of these new "green" sort of burial sites and it's absolutely fantastic! There are many young trees planted and the sheep roam freely around the place (tread carefully in your best shoes!!)  :)

Andy turned up in a vehicle he loved so much whilst he lived in the states that he exported it back home with him....his old Dodge Ram van, like the A-Team!  :D

The lady leading the events played us some of Andy's favourite music as we walked down. We had a couple of Bob Dylan tracks, and Lou Reed's Walk on the wild side....which was the first time I've ever giggled at a funeral, given some of the racy lyrics! We also has some Johnny Cash and maybe a couple more but I can't remember exactly.

Andy was laid to rest under a young oak tree. We sprinkled him with wood shavings, to mark the significance that woodworking had in his life. Also, sprigs of Rosemary (signifying remembrance) were handed out, which were tied up with some strips of leather. I've got mine tied up to the sun visor in my van.

As you might expect on the Yorkshire Dales, the weather jumped on us half way through! Luckily there was a gazebo and enough umbrellas to keep most of us from getting completely drenched.

Judy gave a lovely eulogy, which really brought home how much her and Andy meant to each other.

After a while, we left and went back to the Loft in Harrogate where we shared some wine and LOVELY food, chatted and mingled. Regrettably, I was one of the first to get going, due to a previous commitment, but it was nice to spend some time with Judy and everyone else back at the apartment.

Gone but very much still with us in our hearts....Andy chose a nice little spot to rest a while.....

Thanks Jim for those kind words and thank you to everyone who came to the funeral or sent cards and messages.
As you can all imagine this has been the hardest of times for myself and Freya but we are coping with the support of all our friends and family.
The day on Monday was a very special day and all those who attended seemed to find it uplifting and peaceful - he certainly has a lovely place to rest.

Andy was a very special man to all those whose lives he touched.
