I think you will find that you are right, there is nothing cooler than an ipod and white earphones, you need to catch upi with the times, get rid of that old sony rubbish and get a proper mp3 player (an ipod)

Apple ipod:

The king of style over function.  ::)

The music quality is mediocre to say the least.  :(

The itunes software is very poor.  :'(

Ever other player plays mp3s no problem at all. I can take songs off my Sony X10 and play it on any other mp3 player in the world but try and take an itune and play it on anything that don't start i, your screwed.  >:(

Apple are now pulling adobe from their ipoops. ???

Adobe for crying out loud!  >:(

I have a nokia 5800 comes with music get free downloads of pretty much any song i have searched for so far, 8 ggb hd got about 600 tunes so far

Good sound on external speaker too, plus good with earphones, and has a radio its pretty good, only problems are i cant upgrade phone or i lose my music, and the battery dies at about dinner time if i start at 8 am and listen constantly which i normally do howeever i could just buy another battery :)

I do have an ipod and they are pretty good too, my bro in law has been through all the budget mp3s and probably spent mor than if he just bought an ipod to start with whic he has now and likes

Sean.... I've have the same phone you got.
I turn radio on in the morning and it's still on when I get home, add to that at least an hour on the phone and I still have charge left.
My radio reception ain't that good though
bit hit and miss in some areas.

It's stored on the memory card so just take it out.
Also update to v50 software, few bugs sorted out :)

I thought the licensing softaare limits its use to one cpu and one phone?

my music player kills the battery in a bout 4 hours

You can normally copy 5 times before license stops you but, if you are keeping it on the same memory card you are not actually copying it.

You also probably need a new battery. You could try running it totally flat then (without turning it on) charge it overnight.

The itunes software is very poor.  :'(  AND WRONG

I hate the fact that they are twice the price of other mp3 players, and apple always do that with the products, but they are always they best in whatever field the venture into, i will be buying ipods for may years to come.

I use this one:

Sansa Clip 8GB.  Think it cost me about £30.

Works great and has an FM radio.  Nice and small and compact.

I had a 5800 before I got my iPhone, if you go in the settings and set it to use gsm only (if you don't use the Internet much on it), turn off wifi scanning and make sure Bluetooth is off you should find it lasts ages. Mine stands by for over 2 weeks set up like this so should easily last you a days work.

must admit the ipod is not as good as the sansa clip i gave away to a friends daughter sound wise.

and the battery soon runs down.very overpriced really for what is.

price higher/work harder!
