One-way links are far better. A link on another site that does not link back to that site.
But don't buy links from sites that say they will give x amount of links for £££, these are known as link farms and can damage your ranking.

You should link from higher ranking sites only, page 1 or 2.

im no web expert but you might be better off linking to websites that are similar to yours ie, other window cleaning websites instead of websites that have no real similarity with yours..but as links go they work and direct you to the webites they are supposed too.

Nope I am saying adding link after link to poor sites can drag you down to there level, some are poorly ranked for the reason they are poorly made, mud sticks I guess. just dont think by adding every tom dick and harry to your site is going to get you higher ranking and page one ranked on google as this does not happen, or people would just set up auto link farms (which was done many moons ago) google is clever dont treat it like a fool as it will do the same back.

Exactly, swapping links isnt actually all its cracked up to be.

If there is a 'nofollow' attribute they are meaningless and if the page that is linked to yours is a low rank then it doesnt help a great deal.

Ians page rank of 3 is pretty good, most of you guys will have 0, which is as low and unworthy as it gets.
