Hi everyone, hope you are all very busy

I have got my legal and H&S, banking and evrything else sorted.

Its now time for the advertising.
I have a website and have been advertising all over the web. This is how I got my urgent 1 off clean last week.

I am now thinking leaflets/fliers, A5 size for my domestic customers.

anyone got any tips on what to put on them?
I will be printing them myself, and probably coloured paper with black writing, but not sure yet. Our colours are jade green and lilac (our business cards have these colours, lisa (me lilac) other lisa has jade green.
Also we still haven't got a logo, so any ideas would be greatfully received.

Lisa, printing them yourself would become very costly. I designed mine in the computer then took them down to my local printers, who charges 1.5p per A5 sheet.

I weighed everything up, cost of printer cartridges, paper, time, wear and tear on your printer.It's just not worth the hassle.

That's my opinon but ithers may have a different.

Hi Lisa,

You also need to be aware that flyers/leaflets are not the most cost effective way to advertise your business.

It is commonly known that this is the least productive way of obtaining business, as a large percentage of your leaflets will end up in the bin.  Think about your own home, how many do you get, and bin without even reading them...?

When we first went about building our customer base, we spent an arm and a leg of flyers.  Some days, we were delivering 400 a day.  The return was one or two leads a time....!!

I do not use them know, as thankfully most of our new businesss comes by word of mouth, but we do find parish councils newsletters very good.  You can advertise an eigth of a page for approx £30 for a month (depending on area) the benefit of this off course is the fact that you do not have to deliver them.

Hi all
I have adds in Yell and a Bt phone book costs arround Yell= £1899 and BT = £250 per year.  Also every month I am in two local mags which advertise trades etc cost £90 per month and I leaflet.
This is what I have found to be the most productive
1st trade mags
2nd Leaflets
3rd yell
4th BT
I won't be in Yell next year, its just not been worth it for me. my leaflets are very good, if work gets slow I will leaflet I average 1 lead to every 200 leaflts. ps never be temted to put them in the free paper waste of money. the above produces at least 2 leads a week.

OK I advertise ONLY in Yellow Pages and Yell.com, and occasionally I spec letter certain professions..............advertising in magazines brought me no work, advertising in local newspaper brought me no work......all my work comes from Yellow Pages, referalls and Yell.com in that order!!

Course at the mo I can't get cleaners for love nor money so advertising has been restricted!!

Plus I am ONLY in dom cleaning market!!
