I think John's right. I took this from the George website faq's:

Q: All the prices in George have the wrong currency symbol in front of them.

A: George uses whatever currency symbol you have set up in your copy  of Windows. To change it - close down George (if it’s running), click on "My Computer" then on "Control Panel" and then on "Regional Settings". Select your own country from the list (US/UK users should make sure they select the correct one of “English (United Kingdom)” or “English (United States)” and then click on the "Apply"  button at the bottom of the panel. You might need to reboot you computer before this takes effect,

is there any news on this situation, because my george has got dollar signs instead of pounds, which is not a problem except ive just entered a load of work ive done recently manually, and the dates are sending the job to the wrong place, if that makes sence.
eg.. i typed in, 4wk job, done on the 06/05/2010 and when i look in the diary, it comes up due next in july, last done on the 05/06/2010,
the dates are the wrong way round, and i have checked the settings in george and on my computer, and they all read the correct way.
this is really p...ing me off now, ive been using george for about 2 1/2 yrs now, and havent had any troubles but recently it doesnt seem up to scratch

Just email george support. Paul normally replies asap.

Personally, I would always make him my first stop not posting on here.

I just had another look at the emails Paul sent me and I must confess that I had over looked the last email Paul sent me

email cut & pasted

Hi Chris

I just had another look at your screen shot.

It's in US Dollars so your Windows Regional Settings must be English (United States) instead of English (United Kingdom).

This means that your report for 08/12/2009 is in fact for the 12th August 2009 !!

Go to the Windows Control Panel and change it.

Paul

and the other email he sent

Hi Chris

Another user said:

"I went into control panel chose regional and language click on the advance settings then currency it showed that it was in £ so I just changed it to €s then apply closed all the tabs then reopened and changed it back to £s and it changed it in George. Must be a bug in windows. Hope that helps."

Paul

This I have now done and has fixed the problem

chris,
thanks for taking the time to post your emails.
i to have had similar emails from paul, and it does change the settings in george, but when i turn george off and then turn it back on again, it reverts back to the wrong date and currency.
did you have this problem to, or did yours stay fixed straight away.

Hi Steven
The second e mail is the way I fixed the problem a while back when I upgraded to windows 7 32 bit I had to manually change the currency sign in the windows settings and make sure your region is set to London utc as windows 7 doesn't use gmt anymore and it has been fine ever since .
