Printed Stickers - Cheap
« on: July 30, 2004, 10:00:06 pm »
Hi,
Can anyone out there recommend a good but cheap printer for stickers for wheelie bins.  They need to be able to stick on the plastic bin and not discolour when pressure washed.  My supplier has just hiked their prices by 12% so I've said goodbye to them.

Cheers,
Nev.

What price were you paying I just bought 2000 as per the sample I sent you vinyl 3 spot colour 50p each. I would love to pay less.

Cheers

George,
That's interesting, I thought I was paying too much! My sticker is smaller than yours (76 x 102mm) but as complex and 3 colour. When I last ordered 1000 they worked out at approximately 17 pence each (not including initial artwork charges). For the same sticker and quantity they now want 19 pence each (12 % increase).  I also got quotes for larger size and different quantities i.e 98 x 130mm for 1000, 2000 and 3000. They came in at 25p, 17p and 14p.  Actually this is interesting, this is the first time I,ve looked at the unit costs - if I order 3000 of the larger sticker I would actually be paying 3p less per sticker - I think what has happened is that I can not afford the larger quantity at the moment as I've got some big bills coming up - van insurance etc. and therefore I was annoyed at the increase for the smaller sticker price. Perhaps its still a good deal and therefore I shall wait until I can afford to order 3000 of the larger stickers. If you are interested the printing company is www.rcs.plc.uk.  But I would still like to get them even cheaper!

By the way George, hope you don't mind, I've copied your bin ties and will try these out next week.  Also, you haven't got your website on the sticker you sent me - hope you put it on the new ones just ordered!?

Cheers,
Nev

Hi George,

Yes, sad isn't it - once I wake up the first thing that I start thinking about is b****y wheelie bins. Then I might aswell just get up and do something.  Then I go back to bed later in the morning.

Ahhh  A Wheelie bin cleaning link at long last. I pay about 40 quid for 300 but they are only single colour. Im interested in how you print your own, what type of printer/ink do you use ?

Semy,
Use standard Epson colour printer on A4 90gsm paper (at 140 x 100mm you can get 4 on one peice of paper). Cut to size and then laminated using A5 150 or 250 micron, (you can laminate 2 with A5). Then stuck on to the bin using high strenght spray glue. Takes a little bit longer than just peeling and sticking a lable on and writting a number but you can create you own design and because I print the full address on the lable my customers see it as a personal touch and are only to glad to have our company name and telephone number on it. I do it this way as my logo is full colour and have been quoted 60p per label and I still can only write the number on it, not the full address.
