blood stains
« on: May 05, 2010, 07:45:26 pm »
I went to quote for a job tonight, small lounge, hall stairs and landing and small front bedroom.

Carpets not really dirty but small blood stains throughout the 3 rooms, that have dried on the sythetic carpets. The stains aren't big, probably biggest is the size of a 10p piece.

I have never done this sort of stain before - will it be troublesome and what are the success rates with dried blood.

The house is that of a frail old lady with all the usual amounts of clutter you get with old ladies.

I dont really know if i want the job, perhaps some comments might help with my decision

Thanks

Wayne

Cold rinse first followed by a protein spotter. Cold rinse again, should do the job. May need rust remover if stubborn. Can require a second visit sometimes.

if you don't want the job, charge double your rate, you'll want it if you get it then won't ya ;D and if you don't get it, well there ya go. as for the blood, my best bud martin told me, "persil bio liquid" and bye eck it does the trick, allthough didn't work on a cotton suite. shame, still got paid though as i never say i'll get it all out.

Persil may work but may be your insurance won't just be careful, I would rinse with cold water then apply stain pro from prochem allow a small dwell then extract, rust remover can be used also.

Sometimes the colour can be changed or lightened so advise that you may be able to reduce the stain but you don't know what it may have done to the carpet fibres underneath which is my stock phrase that gets me out of most things before I even start cleaning.

I do dry cleaning, and my secret is get the water the same temperature as blood, 37.9 if I remember and it usually flushes out, or a protein digester

Hi wayne

Bio-logical persil is an enzyme, whose purpose is to break down blood, protein and fatty deposits.

Mix up 1/2 or a cap full in 500ml trigger spray and spray over the area, leave to dwell for a min and then wipe out with a terry towel, may need another spray.

As it is drops of blood then it will unlikely of penertrated the carpet.

These pics show what blood on top and underneath can look like, you can see the size difference.
