« on: May 10, 2010, 12:08:43 pm »
Hi Guys,

Been to quote for a contract at a mod site today and carpets were half pp and all the rest flotex am I right in thinking you can hwe without any issues ::) Also does anyone else carry out work for mod and if so how do you get on? I hear mixed reviews especially about payment taking a long time. This cold be a nice little earner if I get it so all opinions welcomed.

Yes you can HWE flotex carpets however you will find that you will get alot of wand lockdown so unless you use a glide you will need to adjust the way you normally hold the wand to get airflow.  Years ago we used to clean flotex outside of the kitchen in a hotel.  It got battered, I used to mix up PC Enzyme (which is now Power Burst) in a bucket, pour it onto the area to be cleaned and either scrubbed in with a deck scrubber or a rotary with a stiff bruch attacment left to dwell for 10 minutes then extracted.  Came up a treat every time.

Richie.

I used to work for bases but once the forms got to be over an inch thick I stopped doing them.

You will get paid, BUT I was told to take a percentage off for payment within say 30 days, that way the government MOD can be seen to be prudent buy useing the discount, otherwise they can be seen to be wasting tax payers money.

Dont know if the same applies when you are building aircraft carriers tho.

Rich I used to have a streamline card payment machine and was paid within 1 week from Lyneham so ask if the base does this system and it might be worth buying one.Regards Alan(swindon)

Thanks for the thoughts guys. And Alan funny enough he asked if I execpt cc payments and said they would pay after the job is completed perhaps I should take it as face value and not be worried about some things I have heard before.
