I've been using using Gardiners Dual Trim Flocked brushes for a while now and they've been brilliant.

However I decided to buy a non flocked version for it's extra scubbing power and it does the job extremely well, plus I don't need to rinse as much which speeds things up.

The only drawback I have found is on leaded windows.  I feels the bristles are too stiff for leaded glass and the brush jumps and judders on the lead no matter what angle I try it at.  My flocked brushes glide over leaded glass.

Fortunately I have both brushes so I now just swap over to the flocked when I come to do leaded windows.

What would be ideal for me would be a brush with flocked as the longer outerr bristles and stiffer non-flocked as the shorter non-flocked - best of both worlds?

Anyone else found this or come up with a solution of using non flocked dual trim on leaded windows.

Do the same as you, swop brushes when doing leaded. I mainly use the dual trim non flocked version but still love the smoothness of the dual trim flocked brush. Its my favourite brush.

Ive had all the gardiners brushes and have to say that the mark 2 version of the dual trim was the best, I think the splay on the newer one too much...

had the same problem on my new supalite , the older mk1 and mk2 brushes are better , and are great on all types of glass , dont like having to swap brushes to go from plain glass to leaded,

the main thing i dislike with the new brush is the extra splay.

Have a good look at your flocked brush I'm sure you'll find the inner bristles are not flocked.

I find the flocked has more scrubbing power but is prone to holding the dirt.

I think the dual trim mono is the best, I've had all three versions but the extra splay adds to the cleaning ability. The only down side is that if you don't do the frames you might touch them by accident.

From my experiance flocked brushes have more scrubbing power and bring frames up nicer, but much less rinse. My ideal brush would be the gardiners design but with flocked inner bristles, great scrubbing power and still good rinse.

My ideal brush is the other way round.  I would like the softer flock ad the main bristles so that i can fly over leaded and lightly soild windows and frames but the stiffer mono bristles as the secondary bristles.  That way I can apply slightly more pressure on the brush and use the extra scubbing power only when needed.

Just goes to show how difficult it must be for a manufacturer to come up with a perfect brush for all.

I'm surprised you say the flocked has more scubbing power.  I've only been used the non-flocked for a couple of days and I'm really pleased how quick it shifts bird muck off windows and it really shifts the green algae off the bottom of UPVC frames.  I really have to work my dual trim flocked to achieve this.

You are probably right about the inner bristles being non-flocked but they are nowhere near as stiff as the bristles on my dual non-flocked.

Yes - the splay is quite pronounced and is probably the main reason it's juddering over leaded glass.  It's severe enough to make me think that I could end up lifting the lead off if I'm not careful.  I swap back to my super smooth flocked for leaded glass now.
