Water usage
« on: May 01, 2010, 07:19:06 pm »
Just looked at my meter (i'm really bored today) and I reckon I get through eleven cubic metres of pure water per month.
Add that to my waste and then to the household usage and it looks like I could be in for a large water bill.

I'm on a metre too. I pay £26 a month.I use approx 1400 litres a week for my business plus general usage. So not too bad really. I also put some of it through my business.

Why not invest in your own meters?  I have a meter on my pure and another on my waste, both post RO.  That way I know exactly how much pure I'm making and how much waste it costs me to make it.  I keep records of the water usage and I can prove exactly how much water is for business use and so put it through my books.  When it comes to paying for the sewerage, I can deduct the pure water because I can prove that doesn't go back into the sewer.

A couple of meters and associated pipework will set you back less than £50

How do you plumb your meter into the waste Ian? I have 1/4 inch pipe on my ro ,would I need a jg fitting to take it up to normal 15mm pipe size to fit the meter?
My water meter before ro is on normal copper pipe.
