received my new wagtail whirlwind.
« on: May 04, 2010, 03:36:39 pm »
well i received my wagtail from WCW today along with a backpack, great service from WCW by the way.

i gave the wagtail a quick spin on the glass this morning and it seems impressive enough. Goin to take a bit of work on my technique as i guite often leave a spot or 2 on the middle of the pane.

so does anyone have any hints or tips to help me develop my technique?

i changed over to unger soft, also trim a few mil of the ends of the washer, this helps reduces suds on the frame.also i reversed the washer so it flips back on you, allowing the rubber to get right to the botton without the washer obstucting the way,

Agree with this man.

It has to be the biggest trad revolution for years!!!!

I use pulex hard rubber & Lidl floor pads for the scrubber. Apart from being easier & faster than normal applicator/squeegee's it also makes a far better job once you master it. ;)

I like mine - if you skip a bit on the glass you can go back over it with the pad down in one pass. Can't remember the last time I picked up my normal squeegee and applicator.

I had to revert to my "normal" trad tools last month as I needed the porcupine on some internal glass that hadn't been cleaned in 30+ years!!

Made me wonder how I put up with them for so long, the wagtail flipper is THE tool.

Might have to try this here whirlwind thingy!! :D

i think i will try another strip of rubber in it. By washer do you mean the microfibre pad? So you put the pad on top rather than below?

Changed the rubber to Unger soft as soon as I got it. Good for pole work. Worth the money.

I think you have nearly turned your flipper into a whirlwind already. It's like the flipper but with a stronger thicker pad so even when it's not flipped it still drags on the glass so turning it into a one pass tool for lightly soiled glass.

Seriously good dude. The pad needs changing on the flipper though as the one that comes with it is pants. Lidle floor pads do the trick @ £2.99 & make 2 flipper pads each. ;)
