Ford ranger 2000, real workhorse but thirsty.  Thought it would be good as a combo family car/work vehicle, however it's cheaper to run 2 motors instead plus you have 2 motors.  Have a 650 custom tank in.

I used to run a pickup with a Truckman top on. Worked ok for my rural setting.
Now I have a MWB High Top Morvano which I can keep the ladders inside.
I wouldn't go back to a pickup. Panel vans all the way for me.

I use an L200. The 500l tank fits perfectly between the wheel arches. I have two 100 metres hoses. My poles fit in drain pipes on the roof with a set of ladders. I could use poles that fold up smaller and fit in the back but I did not think of that before I brought em!
I got two PF trollies, one new one off ebay. I cut off the wheels and top to make a van mount. You could just by a pump and battery. It is great and not too heavy on fuel. £60 gets you about 400 miles and thats with taking out 500 litres every day just in case alyhough I only use 300 litres.
Hope this helps

i once saw a cool looking toyota hilux 2wheel drive pickup.it was being used for trad work only. 2sets of ladders lay up against the cab roof. the 2wheel drive pickups are  low enuf that it was effortless to lift ladders on and off . i seriously thought of getting one as pickups are always toughly made ,then remembered that all those type of pickups with seperate chassis drink fuel bigtime which is a big consideration now isnt it

That works out at about 40 mpg! I have serious doubts. ???
I've read and been told that those farmer things only get about 22-25mpg, and that's without a water tank!

Sorry just filled up its now £67 to fill up and my record without a water tank is 440 miles for a tank, Yes driving very carefully and a lot of motorways. I can get tops 400 miles but if you have a heavy foot it can go as low as 270 miles. The road tax on the L200 is £185. I brought it new but would never again! A good second hand one now is well worth the money especially as if you have to you can use it to carry the family about where as the van you are more restricted.

Plenty of 4 seater vans about.
I might get one next, then I won't have to pay £11 to get across the bloody Severn Bridge!
