just been having a little think do you think there is much call for a shop that sells window cleaning supplies and janitorial supplies there none round our ways what i know of, so if any one has a shop near to them

are they busy??
do they hold much varied stock??
do they sell both wfp and trad equipment??

i know a lot of window cleaners can just nip online and and order but i was thinkin that it could be a gud way to pick up customers too for my round as im sure people would pop in that needed a window cleaner, also you may pick up other work from other window cleaners such as conservatory cleaning driveway cleaning that they dont offer.

what are peoples thoughts on this??

Had a guy set up in the city centre, great catchment area. Nice little shop. Never factored in:-

rent
rates
wages
insurance
electric
stock
phone
furnishings
advertising
etc

went pop about 6 months and 40 grand later

excellent clearing out sale though!

yeah i understand that all this needs to be factored in im just doin a bit of early research as i know ya only have a limited market i.e window cleaners, general cleaners. i dont think it would need a city centre location to be honest as its quite specialist store i think cleaners would travel in from so far to buy goods etc

back in the day the shops round my way werent much more than 12ft / 30ft  ;D some smaller  ;)
great little places  ;)

the one by me, was in a terraced house type shop, then he moved to a bigger unit,

used to pop in and buy my gear when i was rained off , or waiting to see if it would blow over,
was a chance to catch up with other windies that i seldom saw ,
not like nowadays, see at least a dozen working or driving by,every day.

Paul there was 4 trads in my shop today  from Colchester all at same time, they had arranged to meet there! trouble is for them i try to get them going wfp too.

With our new larger trade counter there will be alot more squeegees for you to look at, if you like!.

Dave at Allclean, Rainham has one hell of a busy window cleaning shop, these shops are still around, however the amount of dropship companies working from their homes starting up lately may have a short term affect on trade counters, however they come and they go.

Maybe someone should look at a franchise model for window cleaning supply shops, so there was a brand and a buying group to make it possible to compete with online prices but over a trade counter,

How can you compete with the online shop? They might be using their garage as a stock room and have no staff at all.

ive been in a fewtimes to my local shop- www.windowcleaningcentre.co.uk  that is in ipswich . its stuck out round the back of a big industrial estate and is a unit more than a shop . the main blokes friendly id guess most of his trade is online and i bet the overheads are high but he has more stuff than you could put in a lockup . i asked him if he was busy and he asked me if i was busy ,said he was doing okay
