no i'm not cleaning them, doing his carpets and wouldn't mind some info about them and possible results incase i get to do them in the future.

They look like victorian clay tiles Derek, try rubbing a bit of citus concentrate on
to a small area, find out if there is a seal on them or not, they are a porous tile i think.

 drop a bit of water onto them and see if it disapears or sits on top, this will tell you if there is a seal on them, cant tell from pic Mr Spielberg 

Probably just need a good scrub, rinse extract, dry and reseal.

These sort of floors account for about for about 75% of my work. They can be stripped back if there is a sealer on them, cleaned with a strong alkaline,  and then resealed and a polish applied. All with Aquamix products as a rule (though I do use other stuff too). As for scrubbing, generally a red pad is enough - black pads can occasionally take the tops of old tiles. As Andrew says, they are porous, so need time to dry before sealing.

Feel free to pm me if you ever have a specific problem, or if Sherco isn't around, as I might be able to help. I do repairs and relay damaged sections too.

it looks as if there are a couple of tiles where the top glaze has come off, you will have to be careful with these, as the damaged area's could go black with the dirt penetrating the porous tile.

i had a very difficult one where they were very stained could not clean out or sand out

I agree with all the answers so far...another issue you could have once you start cleaning  is efflorescence coming out of the tile..Just make customer aware this could happen, it may not but cover yourself as you will need to remove this before any sealer is applied.
