Business card stand at Tesco
« on: April 15, 2010, 07:26:14 pm »
I was approached by a company today, that deal with the business-card stands at Tesco's, advertising different businesses in the local area.
Has anyone else used this? Get much work from it?

In our Tescos there's maybe 40 card slots and there always full.
Trouble is there's only about 12 advertisers so they get 3 or 4 slots each
to make it full.
Last time I got called about it it wasn't cheap, £200 I think for 3 months.
Heed Derek's post, me neither.

£600 for two years, plus the do the design for the card, like a mini leaflet, Business card size.
I am not even sure where the stand is in the store. By the entrance? Or in some stupid place?

A couple of years ago I was quoted about £1500 for 2 years and they top up your cards in that price
what a great deal.
Unfortunately I did not take up the offer, just think where I could be now !

i tried an ad once which was an A5 card but didn't get any business from it and at one time i had to contact the firm to complain that the board with the business advertising cards was being blocked by one of Tescos own large advertising boards and customers were walking past it oblivious to the fact there was a stand advertising local businesses.
i felt it was a waste of money that i could have put to a better form of advertising.

the card dispenser in our store is half way up the checkouts where their cleaners park their janitorial trolleys in front of it. The store goes out of their way to promote your business. Jump at the opportunity!

Had a guy ring me regarding this on three different occasions. First time round he was told that i was not interested.
When he phoned me for the third time yesterday i told him to stop phoning me as it was bordering on harassment !
The hard sell goes down like a lead balloon for me  :(
I think that this is not a good advertisment investment and your hard earned money should be spent elsewhere.

Ben.

done that fewyears ago when it first started, was very succsfull , then only got 1-2 calls monthly , it never cost that much , be a sales man your self , tell the guy , put me on 2mths 100 quid , you will monitor the calls and if 5% come from his board, then you sign up  :-*
