After a (very) quick read through the first part of your link, it's not clear to me what this product protects against.  The only claim made was for water resistance. But our industry standard flourocarbon protectors give resistance to water, oil and dry soiling.

Rule of thumb.
Flourocarbon protects against water, oil and dry soils
Silicon protects against water soils
Silica protects against dry soils.

Obviously, with ongoing developments with nano protectors,
things are changing as we write.

Safe and happy cleaning :)
