Replace my van or not ?
« on: April 03, 2010, 05:48:19 pm »
Been cleaning carpets now for 10 years and normally repace my van every 3/4 years.

I never buy new. Normally buy one a couple of year old, keep it 3 years then replace.

My existing van is now 5 year old and the last payment of £115 (per month) is due next month  :)

A few people have been throwing suggestions at me...
Do I keep the one I've got, get a proffessional valet renew the graphics and spend the £115 promoting my business ?
or do as I normally do, get myself a new(ish) van and start paying £115 per month again for the next 3/4 years ?

To be fair the van I have is a Peugeot Partner, private plate, never let me down and is cheap for parts !

Your views please ?  ???

keep it, smarten it up and save money, if its a good van then why get rid, you may one day exchange it for a duffer.

Derek beat me to it ;)
If it's the reg number that is bothering you then why not buy a 'private plate' so that no one has an idea how old the van is as long as it is kept clean and tidy.
I still have an X reg Transit which I make a point of making sure it is kept in as good an order as possible. I have now moved onto painting over the inevitable rust marks but i don't see the point in paying out for a vehicle just for the purpose of having 09 etc on the number plate when it still looks the biz.

I already have a private plate which I took off my car and put on my van...

One of your best options is keep the van if you're happy, keep putting your £115 quid a month aside as either way you won't 'miss' it, save it up then when you want a new one you'll have a pile of cash to help ;D
