I've never lub'ed mine but mine's the original MKI.

Anyhow, there was a post a couple of weeks back, can't remember who but remember it was an experienced wfp'er who said he used "ceramic oil" & said it was superb & did the job. ;)

I think it was an oil produced for cycles.

Araldite.

I think that might be the answer on the other thread, but give it a go anyway and report back your findings.
Sorry mate, thought that was intended for my thread, just seen the other one! ;)

Hi Guys, personally I wouldn't use a lubricant, I find this only holds on to the dust and dirt and makes the situation worse.
I just give them a wipe then dry each section.

I have to bath my pole every week, but it still sticks, I have ordered some fishing rod guilds, which I will fix to the slx and then I will be able to run the pole hose on the outside, I do know that the pole dose not jam that much with the pole hose on the outside.

I will start a tread on how it works after I come back from africa again in 2 weeks time.

I've used wd 40 but recently after some advice on here I use Mr. Sheen.

My SLX regime:-

End of week - disassemble (top 4 sections only).

Blast water from garden hose through a jet nozzle down each section.

Dry off and spray with Mr. Sheen.

Every 4 weeks

Do the above to all sections

Repaint the "pullout" limit markers on (usually) sections 1, 2 and 3.

I also use a hose tidy and wipe the hose before extending the pole.
It's a game of three halves!

Tc1,

I have posted before on lubricants for the slx poles.

I use a ceramic oil on my pole sections. It lasts longer then wd40, it reduces carbon dust,it improves the use of the pole.Once applied the pole looks brand new and the sections glide in use. It will increase the life span of your pole as the oil reduces the wear on the carbon.

Every 2 or 3 days I just wipe all the pole sections down with a cloth and then apply the oil and rub it on with my fingers untill the pole sections are covered in a thin film. their is a ceramic wax as well but I cant comment on how good it is as I have never used it.Use the link below.

The ceramic oil is highly recommened.

I have never had a problem with the pole sections sticking together.
I cant see how a telescopic pole could stick really.
ok the hose is on the inside, but so is my elastic on my fishing pole.
you guys must be dragging the hose though millwaste or something similar to get it that clogged up.

The problem occurs because the diameters of the poles is too tight, so that dirt grit jams the poles together.

The simple solution is to give the poles more room  when the close together so this does not happen, I don't know whether alex has taken this on board, even though he is aware of the problem.

With a put together pole it's best not to jam the sections into each other, I know that's obvious by the way.
Fit the sections together as gravity will pull them tighter.
A little dab of vaseline works well. Just wipe it off with a rag occasionally to clean off the grit and dirt and re-apply. Works well for me.
