Anyone using Twitter as a form of marketing?

We do and have picked up a good bit of work from it lately.

you mind displaying your username to see how you use it? we use it for very light marketing and haven't found any noticeable success from it, though it takes no time extra as i usually update whilst in car  so nothing lost. I do plan on increasing how i use twitter to see if it's really worth continuing with it.

what i find hard to decide is how formal to be with it. i try to be natural and see how customers respond but often i see other companies just saying something like "need a carpet clean? www.dot.com" etc and it makes me wonder if this is the norm

The key to Twitter is to be natural and engage in 'social networking' so they tell me!  Don't bombard the board with posts with your web link as it puts people off apparently.  I've tried twitter but I've had no jobs directly from it.  As with all social networking sites it's getting your name out there and it certainly does no harm.

Also the other good thing about twitter is for the back link to your website.  I heard the other day that you need over 100 followers for it to come into effect. Does anyone else know anymore about this?

all links on twitter are nofollow so i'm shocked if just 100 followers would mean that google ignore that as it's very easy to get that amount if you add as many people to follow as possible every day
