Jason,

I have a Max 450D which we use as a standby unit to our Titan 875 when cleaning cruise ships. We bought the unit second hand and it had quite some hours on it but it performers perfectly. The solution temps it produces are fantastic and of course it is a dual operator unit so you can get a lot of carpet cleaning done very quickly.
There is very little that can go wrong and as it is diesel the engine will run for ever.
If you're going to look at one let me know and I'll tell you what to look out for. Better still, take someone with you who knows about TM's, there plenty of them on here.

Hi Jason,
A company i used to work for ran the very 1st Maxx 450D which was the prototype, this was 10 years ago.  We were told to run it to its limit & beyond which we did.  They are great solid machines and all the small problems were sorted out. Since then i have run another Maxx 450D & that was superb, really good vac and heat. To be honest i am struggling to think of anything bad to say about them.  Remember to service the machine at the stated intervals & you shouldnt have any problems. You can run them on Red Diesel due to the fact they are classed as PLANT MACHINARY.  I know you have stated that it has approx 7000 hrs on the clock but do you know the actual age of the unit?

Richie.

Hydramaster have an ex demo unit at a knockdown price. Whether this virtually new unit was within your budget I don't know, but I presume you'll get a good warranty with it.

Safe and happy cleaning :)

If it was the one from ebay I got it. I spoke to John at HM about it and he's sure it's your old machine Steve.

Anyway ran it for about an hour yesterday checking out the engine blower and high pressure system. All seemed ok so went for it. It could do with a good tidy up which it will get. It looks like a lot of machine for what I paid for it. The only problem I found was the switch on the front for controlling the engine speed doesn't seem to work all the time. So I will have to have a look at that. If any of you guys who know these machines well know of any common faults or problems with that switch, your help would be greatly appreciated.

Sure will Rich. Although I am going to continue using the spitfire for now. Just want to go through the maxx and make sure all is well. As well a tart it up a bit. There are definitely a few jobs needed. Hopefully nothing major.

I dragged it out of the van today and put the spitfire back in. Thought I would leave the big waste tank in but realized it doesn't have a solenoid valve on for dumping water. So more fiddling about tomorrow.

Derek. Yes picked up from Buxton yesterday. I paid £1700 for it with tanks reels and hoses "2" wand stair tool and upholstery tool.

Hi Nevil
That was my old machine but it never looked like that when i sold it! >:( It was working perfectly.
Yes i told JG that my old Maxx was on E Bay.
The switch may need replacing and just make sure you change the oil and filter regulally and it will be fine.
I put 6000 hours on that machine in the 5 years i owned it and she definately earnt her keep! ;)

Cheers

Steve
