I haver never done any commercial work as yet......A couple of weeks ago whilst out leafleting I posted some through a local OAP rest home.

Got a call from them this weekend about quoting for a couple of lounges and a corridor.

Would you quote your usual rate per sq metre or does this change in quoting for commercial jobs.

A) roughly how long would it take to do the job.

B) roughly how much would you be happy with per hour,

A) x B) = your quote. roughly. tweek it if your confident or knock a bit off if you feel your not gonna get it.

Wayne i quote my normal rate.
The one thing i would say is i prefer to have someone with me if they are moving about the place oap dont pick there feet up when walking to well so watch your leads & hoses TRIP HAZARDS!!!!!!

I would pretty much agree with Derek on this one Wayne.
Watch out for the furniture though, the lounges in these places are often stacked out with loads of little tables and easy chairs, so check whether they will be removed prior to you doing the job, or you could spend up spending ages shuffling furniture.
Also, can the work be done during the daytime or has it got to be "out of hours"

We do alot of residential homes and they always seem to be keen to get the price down a bit, prob because for them its an on going process as soon as your done then they need doing again.

we normally quote normal price but less 25% if they agree a regular contract, which normally works.

They would usually expect you to be respectful of the residents which means working around people and lots of furniture and belongings etc.

Odour removal is normally the biggest issue, so would need something very effective to keep them as a customer.

Also as mentioned drying time as its difficult to keep them off

Number 2 problem is dealing with the smell of stale pee all over your kit after the job
