"Alltec" Solvent fabric and carpet protector for upholstery and they also sell a concentrated water-based carpet protector. These both work and are economical. ( I found mixing the carpet protector 5:1 was better than 6:1)

Stain Protection - looking for advice
I am in the process of buying a new carpet and have been given a quote of £3.50 per sq. mtr to have carpet protection applied before it is delivered.

My questions are :-

a) Is carpet protection worthwhile having
b) Can I have protection applied by a third party more cheaply after the carpet is laid
c) Is this something which I can do myself by purchasing teh chemicals and renting spraying/application equipment.

hope someone can help,

Owain

Owain,
yes carpet protection is worth having, but dont get the supplier to apply it as that would cost a lot more than getting a carpet cleaner to do so for you. If you ask about this on the Carpet Cleaning area of this site and also put where you are no doubt you will get a CC local to you to give you a Quote

Martin
